Microsoft sues more alleged Hotmail spammers
Microsoft has filed two lawsuits over the past weeks looking to crack down on spam on its Windows Live Hotmail network.
The "John Doe" lawsuits were filed against unknown alleged spammers who had been sending large quantities of spam advertising debt relief and adult Web sites to Hotmail accounts.
Microsoft alleges that a company doing business under the name Consumer Solutions Network sent "misleading, deceptive, and unsolicited commercial e-mails advertising debt relief help to Windows Live Hotmail account holders."
The spam contained subject lines such as "Michelle, accounts over the limit," or "Robert, Payment not received," the suit alleges.
Consumer Solutions Network, which could not be reached for comment on this story, operates several Internet domains including myfinancialsolutions.org, consumersolution.org, and financialsolutionsonline.org, according to Microsoft.
Microsoft has also sued unnamed defendants for sending spam that promoted pornographic Web sites through Hotmail. Microsoft claims that these spammers not only flooded Hotmail accounts with unwanted messages, but also used Hotmail itself to send large volumes of spam. "Many of defendants' illegal e-mail messages were sent using ... accounts obtained through false or fraudulent pretenses," Microsoft claims.
Companies like Microsoft, AOL, and Earthlink have launched a large number of these lawsuits in recent years, said Venkat Balasubramani, the principal of Balasubramani Law, and author of the Spam Notes blog. "They serve a deterrent purpose, and they also can be a mechanism for investigation. You can issue subpoenas and dig around a little bit to find what's going on," he said.
Microsoft has filed such lawsuits on an almost-monthly basis over the past year, he added.
In April and May of this year it filed similar lawsuits against several alleged stock scammers.
These latest lawsuits were filed in King County Superior Court in Seattle. The Consumer Solutions Network lawsuit was filed on June 13. The suit relating to pornographic spam was filed on Tuesday of this week.

Apocalypse!!! is this for SURE??
Few days ago, people beaten him up just for misleading themselves, the foolish sheepish inhabitants of Kathmandu. His fault was that he publicly declared, that there would be enormous earthquakes in Kathmandu which would kill thousands of people. When nothing happened(something was happen though, his swollen face structures on TV News clearly showed them), people put their rage on him. Now, we really don't know if he was right or wrong but still he is claiming from the cell, and warning us ' see till this ASHAR 26th '. I wasn't really caring his statements. As soon as his prediction was to take form, nothing in Kathmandu happen but something bad was happening in our neighboring country Pakistan. Flood,Wind took many lives there. Next day, it was the headlines. Anyway, that's not my concern.
Now, these days, i'm getting chill on my nerve because, i've been reading/listening news of apocalypse not only from the mouth of that so-called TRISHUL BABA, but also from different sources. Now, the whole world is taking this thing seriously. I mean Apocalypse, will there really be the end of the world?? by end of the world , i meant, the eradication of the entire civilization. Like those dinosaurs age. I don't know what you guys may think but i'm into this thinking these days. Consider yourself so many cases of unrests in different parts of world. See those never-ending palestine-Israel wars, Al-qaeda,Muslim terrorists etc. This conflict is dragging other big nations alongside. I really really don't have any idea whats going on but i'm writing something with proofs.
There is a writer(Joseph)who wrote a book "Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End" You can visit http://www.apocalypse2012.com for more info. According to this book, world will end in 2012, the year which is not very far.
From the site:
"Devastating earthquakes. Record-breaking tsunamis. Category 5 hurricanes. Spiking global temperatures. World war. Predictions of how it will all end have been around for thousands of years. In Apocalypse 2012, Lawrence E. Joseph reveals the curious fact that 2012 has been pinpointed as a pivotal, perhaps cataclysmic, year in human history by ancient sources and contemporary science alike.
Joseph investigates this chilling correlation with an open mind and skeptical eye. He delves into historical and spiritual materials as diverse as Revelations, the I Ching, and the Islamic Hadith, drawing on scholarly works and recent controversial bestsellers such as The Bible Code. He examines the ancient Mayan Long Calendar, the source of the 2012 prophecies, and then travels to the jungles and highlands of Guatemala to work with Mayan shamans who confirm the 5,000-year-old vision. In a scientific research city in the heart of Siberia, he meets with geophysicists who contend that the solar system is moving into a highly charged interstellar energy cloud. And on the tip of South Africa, he interviews physicists and psychics who are trying to make sense of the fact that the earth’s magnetic field is vanishing.
Joseph concludes that we are in a race against time. Apocalypse 2012 is an authoritative and deeply unsettling appraisal of just how close the earth, or at least our species, might be to extinction.
"
Now the things i wrote above were done by some contemporary writer based on his own analysis. I've another fact that too boldly claims the end of the world. This fact or prediction tells us that World will end by 2060. This prediction was done by Sir ISAAC NEWTON hundreds of years ago.
The followings are the Newton's very handwritten materials predicting the world end(click images for larger view):

FIONA MACRAE elaborated more on this regard as ,
"His famously analytical mind worked out the laws of gravity and unravelled the motion of the planets. And when it came to predicting the end of the world, Sir Isaac Newton was just as precise. He believed the Apocalypse would come in 2060 – exactly 1,260 years after the foundation of the Holy Roman Empire, according to a recently published letter. Luckily for modern scientists in awe of his achievements, Newton based this figure on religion rather than reasoning.
In a letter from 1704 which has gone on show in Jerusalem’s Hebrew University, Newton uses the Bible’s Book of Daniel to calculate the date for the Apocalypse. The note reveals a deeply spiritual side to a man more usually regarded as a strict rationalist. Newton, known as the founder of modern physics, secured a royal exemption from ordination in the Church of England – something normally expected of academics in his day – so he would not have to follow its teachings. But he confidently stated in the letter that the Bible proved the world would end in 2060, adding: "It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner."
Continuing in a decidedly sniffy tone, he wrote: "This I mention not to assert when the time of the end shall be, but to put a stop to the rash conjectures of fanciful men who are frequently predicting the time of the end, and by doing so bring the sacred prophesies into discredit as often as their predictions fail."
The exact words from the Book of Daniel that inspired his prediction are not clear. But he got at least one thing right – in another document, he interpreted biblical prophecies to mean that the Jews would return to the Holy Land before the world ended. Newton, who died 280 years ago, wrote that the end of days would see "the ruin of the wicked nations, the end of weeping and of all troubles, the return of the Jews (from) captivity and their setting up a flourishing and everlasting Kingdom".
Yemima Ben-Menahem, one of the curators of the exhibition, said: "These documents show a scientist guided by religious fervour, by a desire to see God’s actions in the world." The papers – including more prosaic notes about his income and the price of tin – lay in a trunk at the house of the Earl of Portsmouth for 250 years before being auctioned in the late 1930s. Since 1969, many have been locked away in Israel’s national library. "

Archive of more than 20,000 books digitized and free for use.
Anyone who contributed towards the digitization of books, thanks to them. Though, i'm not quite a book reader, there is immense usability of keeping books in digital format. We can use it as reference in future and am pretty much sure, it helps us save cutting of trees and forests for printing those books in hard form on and on.
There are so many peoples around me, who are very fond of reading books, novels etc. I'm not sure if they like reading it on computer monitor for long or so but to see the current context, life is going digital. I mean today, nobody can lead a way of living without being digital. Carrying Cellphone, laptop is must to exist in today's official scenario without which dreaming about world is almost impossible. From the paper oriented conventional office environment, thanks to digital era, now it's not unusual to see paperless office. I was quite happy when the Information and Communication Minister K.B Mahara, few weeks ago stated that he would put all his efforts to make all ministries paperless. If not, he is quite sure to make his own ministry , a paperless office within few months. That's a positive initiative. With paperless office, its meant to keeping all records in hard disk, not in bunch of piles of dust storing folders and desks. With this, retrieving information will be more scientific and more accurate, faster office operation is added benefit.
When we read a book, to find certain words or paragraph, we've to check on indexes and then flip pages accordingly. If not, intelligently we can keep bookmark paper slides. But when that book goes digital, within a few seconds we can reach anywhere, any part of the book. That's how fast digital ebook or any written materials work for us.
Due to long time staring at monitor, lots of complains regarding the eye stress, headaches are made. Now, what's the use of that benefit which comes along with the sufferings. So, people has started creating electronic portable ebook readers. Some worked just on Sun's solar power and some worked for battery's power. They are still expensive gadgets to own and quite not popular. So, people from china started writing novel off the mobile phone. I don't remember that guy's name but he set the record of writing first novel ever in mobile devices. Now, mobile phone software developer started writing small mobile applications to read books through it. It's so good. I sometimes read books(tech related mostly) from my mobile phone lying in the bed and it's so nice and i thank to technology for bringing that facility. Now, these days, PDA,Blackberry,Cell phones can equally read thousands of pages of book. We must thank to those people who brought us such benefits.

Electronic devices like this is our future books, when students will just carry something like this in near future instead of bags full of heavy books and copies
So, what's the clue of this writing here. Well, there is a downloadable archive of nearly over 20,000 great books. These books were once in hard copy but some people started digitizing it since 70's and today we've over 20,000 great books available to read free of charge. If someone is searching for classic best seller which is out of print or not readily available in second-hand sales can dig this database. It's called Project Gutenberg.

File Sharing on Ares
File sharing across the networks is not a new thing these days. Even a kid with internet access knows how to send and receive files, programs etc. File Sharing is different than downloading. Because, File sharing involves simply two parties where uploading and downloading takes place at the same time. That means any two persons with online connectivity can share their harddisk's contents. Imagine what would happen if similar group of people starts to gather and starts sharing files. A network for file sharing would form.
Previously, the sharing of files was based on centralized system. That means particular server was put into extreme usage. Download was possible only after making request to server. Remember the Napster?? that's how it works. But, after it shared music mp3s, it was ceased to exit by MPAA and various other organisations related to music industry. They accused them of loss of billions of dollars. I don't know how they calculated that figure but yeap, it was loss there anyhow. Since people shared music illegally. Illegally because, even those who didn't own the original CD of music, they started to get it free. So, getting patented materials for free is definitely a crime, a steal. If i get free something from my neighbours house without neighbours consent, it's steal. Same logic applies to music files, not music files but almost all patented(software or in digital form) things.
So, there was no any hope to form another same site like Napster. Because, sooner or later, those MPAA would find them and make innumerous charges.
Now, the coders found different way, and they came up with a different idea. Decentralized online file sharing system. That means, now, no single server will be there to take care of these businesses, there will be virtually millions of networked computers acting that way. This is almost impossible to snatch millions of networked computers. But, not to forget, it's still crime to download illegal mp3 and contents in USA. If federal finds you are doing that, you'll be headed towards jail for long time.
In formal language, it's called peer-to-peer or client-to-client file sharing. Sometimes, one client acts as a server , sometimes as a client itself. So, peer-to-peer networking is network which distributes the storage, bandwidth etc between the members of the same network. Now, the previous limitation of centralized file sharing is removed. Every PC can act as a server and client in this networking and sharing files, softwares, music, movies became easy.
Kazaa, bearshare, limewire,Gnutella etc are some network based on this peer-to-peer sharing system and they've their own clients for use on desktop computer. Using that client software on desktop PC, virtually anyone can share files online.
Well, one of the major problem with these online sharing is the fake contents or spam contents or sometimes even malware(virus, trojans, spywares, worms etc) contents. These days, when we search particular items, the objects searched or found are infested with bogus content or beyond the intended application we are searching for. Lets say, if i'm searching for ELVIS PRESLEY video or anything related to him, i started downloading of around 11 mb media file, it got downloaded but when i see the content, it's some sort of bizarre sex scenes. We've to be very careful while downloading these contents since it's no where to what we expect to see.
There is new kid on the block. Ares. I think Ares network doesn't contain such bogus items or contents. I tried it with couple of things in mind and the things i got, they are for real. Try for yourself, forget about bearshare, limewire for the time being. They are full of craps.
According to http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/ ,
Ares is a free open source file sharing program that enables users to share any digital file including images, audio, video, software, documents, etc.

Happy sharing.

Sunita L. Williams : First Indian lady to break all Space records
Yesterday, Indian channels elaborately aired the live telecast of Atlantis Shuttle landing on earth. The specialty of the show or say the main attraction of all Indian channels was Sunita Williams, an Indian Astronaut. I came to know she broke couple of previous records like she stayed 6 months alone in space and she did longest space-walking(spaceflight). Before no female astronaut were able to do that. Yesterday, she's the center of attraction.
It was amazing experience to witness how a dot like thing in blue sky turned to flying metal bird Atlantis shuttle. In wholesome, it took around 16 minutes for shuttle to land on earth from space. It was supposed to land on Florida airport but due to climatic change, it has to change it's path and land on California airport.
While entering earth's atmosphere, shuttle has to go through immense resistance causing lots of friction to it's metal body which has special scientific coating to prevent burning down. Even after landing on earth, shuttle was calm for few minutes and no one easily approached the shuttle because, it was commented that shuttles surface could've brought some sort of radiation or harmful gases alongside. So, scientists were on protection suit while inspecting the shuttle which was on total halt.
It is told, those astronauts will be taken to hospital for medical checkup due to immediate change in the environment.
Below are the pictures of her:

Full web page view in mobile phone screen: Opera Mini 4
Opera launched a beta version of Opera Mini 4. Needless to write, Opera Mini is a free mobile browser. The new feature of Opera Mini 4 is the full display of a web page. Previously, it was partial view of the page, where one has to scroll left, right,up and down to surf. With this new release, one can see all page at once but since the screen of mobile devices are very small and one can't properly see , there is a handle provided with this new version with which zooming in and out of the certain portion of the page is a kids play.
It's in beta. To check its features, http://www.operamini.com/beta/
And to try it in phone, go to mini.opera.com/beta on mobile phone.
To try it in desktop without installing it in phone, we can check the simulator to find out how it works. It's here http://www.operamini.com/beta/simulator/

Microsoft story: Accessing Microsoft services from Mobile devices would be much more fun and entertaining in coming days.
I still checks my hotmail mails in my mobile phone from mobile.msn.com and there is no issue with it.
But according to Microsoft, the users are going to experience rich features on mobile phones. Right now, it's limited only to US citizens.
GPRS phones can use the same mobile.msn.com site and from there access a variety of Microsoft online services such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger.
For supported phone models and other lots of info, one can hop in here. http://mobile.msn.com/pc/en-us/mobileweb.aspx

Web Operating System
There was a 'hallah(rumor)' of Google Operating System few months ago. I was wondering what it could be and searching through net and i came through strange era being used in net.. Web Operating System.
Web Operating System is something which mimics the real Operating System like Windows, Linux in interface and there are small sets of utilities which we can use to perform our day to day stuff like saving files, keeping records, logs, etc.
The difference is Web Operating System would still need the Base Operating system because it loads off the web browser. So, without web browsers, lets not imagine it's existence.
I tried couple of webOS, i couldn't verify certain features on my browsers because those webOS needed POPUP-BLOCKER to be set free which i didn't like and quit of thinking about it.
I found one webOS which is called CrayThur(www.craythur.com) and it's pretty usable and not so complicated to use either. Just signup, get activation code and start personalizing your stuff. Wherever you go, there is your OS at your service.

Logging in to the webOS

Main Interface
Note: at first i was confused how to start those icons, but you've to do real double-click to get stuff working.

Mobile Association of Nepal (MAN)
We've heard of CAN (Computer Association of Nepal). Now, there is Mobile Association of Nepal (MAN) formed few days ago. I don't know what these MAN will do. According to their press release, MAN is formed considering the benefits of Mobile phone dealers, Mobile Phone Users and Mobile Phone Repair centers.
They are planning to conduct a show like CAN InfoTech in coming days. I don't know what their SHOW would be like but let's be hopeful.

Nepal Chat
There are very few chatrooms in Nepal to talk online. The egoistic impressions of the chat moderators are the most disappointment thing for most newcomers. Keeping those things in mind, following Buddha's serenity and path, all the new chatters are warmly welcomed and there is no definite theme but to spread message of peace, brotherhood and friendship all over the place. Let's make new friends, let's chat on anything.

Muni Bahadur Shakya
Nepal's ICT (information communication technology) sector has no dearth of genius people. Muni Bahadur Shakya is such a figure whose innovations fetch pride and kudos both at the national and international levels. Known as Bhismapitambah (a famous character in the Mahabharat epic) in the sector, Shakya has pioneered in several IT genres.
Microcomputer (1979), development and integration of devanagari (Nepali scripts) into computer (1983), development of basic input output system (BIOS) (1982), establishment of computer manufacturing plant (1995) and Nepali-versioned super computer and robots (2006) are among his innovations.
When he made super computer last year, a large number of people especially young students, made a beeline at his factory that displays his new inventions. All the day he had been busy briefing about them.
"Everybody wanted me to tell about the super computer and I really enjoyed in furnishing the curiosities of the curious students," Shakya recalled the people's attraction to his discoveries.
He made a super computer by combining memory and speed of 16 computers.
"It takes half an hour to complete a task that a general computer takes 8 hours," he says.
It costs around Rs. 1 million to make a super computer.
Talking about the benefits of super computer in the Nepalese context, he says that it is highly useful for the banking sector and weather forecasting.
"In both areas, people have to process a large number of data that a general computer is unlikely to function effectively," he adds.
He says that the Meteorology Department badly needs super computer for an accurate forecasting.
"There are about 24 satellites active in space and send million of data to the earth. If the department has a powerful and efficient computer to analyse such data quickly, it can predict precisely."
Not only the weather forecast, he said, it is equally important for the financial forecasting.
He says, "They cannot buy time in computing where the things should be done within an allotted time."
Asked about the response on his innovation, he maintains that concerned people have realised the need of super computer but they complained about the lack of sufficient budget.
One of the factors behind not adopting the super computer is the inadequate priority to new technology and lack of know-how, he said.
"My objective is to highlight the importance of research and development (R&D) in the economic development. It is up to the government and the private sector to adopt the new technology to expedite works fast and efficiently," he said.
A few years back the government planed to import a super computer from India for the Department but the plan was never materialised. According to the sources, it did not accept the Indian offer of super computer as donation as it was an old model and would prove a white elephant because of its high in maintenance and repairing costs. This super computer is a big in size and consumes much electricity.... (More inside)
He said that the US-based IBM Company had manufactured the biggest super computer known as IMB Gene/L that has memory and processing power of a combined 65,536 computers. Its speed is 138.5 teraflop. One teraflop contains 1,000 gigabits.
"The concept of super computer is a relative matter. The super computer made in 1960 had less capacity than a desk computer of today," he added.
Dwelling on his robot innovations, he said that artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are the key two inherent qualities of robots.
Students of Pulchowk Engineering Campus also made robots but they operate on manual basis and lacked automation and AI.
"These students are also doing well but they lack the proper know-how on incorporating the elements of automation and AI," he said.
A veteran IT expert, Muni is not satisfied with the government's ICT policy.
He shared his bitter experiences during the years when he took initiatives to establish the first ever computer plant in Nepal.
He said, "If the government had provided as much facilities as it gave to set up factories of cigarettes and alcohol, my computer factory would have developed into full-fledged one by now," he said.
I asked the then finance minister Dr. Ram Saran Mahat to grant certain concession in the import of IT spare parts but he was not positive about my request, he said.
"If the government offers concessions to you, everybody will line up to take the benefits," he quoted Mahat as saying.
With its entry into World Trade Organisation (WTO), Nepal announced zero tariffs in the import of computer accessories.
"However, the government has not still brought tariff to zero per cent," he noted.
He said that his plant had capacity to produce 50,000 computers annually if it operated fully.
It uses about 40 per cent home made products in manufacturing computers.
"Nepal annually needs 50,000 computers, which my plant can meet," he claims.
Established in the collaboration of Taiwanese national, the factory that offers jobs to 20 people is now struggling for survival.
"I could not develop it as per my concept in the absence of proper atmosphere," he admits.
When Muni developed and integrated Nepali devanagari into computer system, India had not done so. Indian experts used to come to his residence for the know-how.
"About two decades back, Nepal and India ranked same but now India has gone far ahead in the ICT field largely due to its policy to promote the sector. What we need is the visionary leader to take the ICT into new height," he said.
When he returned Nepal in 1979 after completing his study in France, the officials at the Tribhuvan International Airport searched his bags thinking he must have brought some expensive foreign items but in vein. Muni had really brought one precious thing with him. It was hidden in his brain, not in his bag. It was his great concept of microcomputer that was just invented in the world.
He became first person to make microcomputer in Nepal.
Muni now runs High Tech Pioneer Private Limited that provides variety of services such as hardware, software, ISP and networking to the customers.
Last year he won the RONAST Award for his contribution to the sector.

"Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer " releasing today
With the advent of the computer and it's prowess, now, impossible is becoming possible not only in real-life application but also into portraying ones imagination into nearly life-like visually appealing scenes and effects within the movies. Now, it's hard to differentiate between real and unreal.
Many years ago, the superhero characters which were just limited to mere comics books and stories being unraveled only on the flip of pages, has come to nearly life-like experiences. Movies portrays the depiction of real life happenings. But with fantasy and sci-fi movies bombarding the stores, it makes us feel if that's for real or what after we watch them. But whatever, i must give hat offs to those great effect gurus and computer geek who brought us this wonderful viewing experiences. Batman,Superman,SpiderMan,X-men,The Spawn,The Phantom,Fantastic Four etc.. these all are into movies now.
And today, June 15, 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' is releasing all over the world . This movie is sequel to previous Fantastic Four. As i saw the promos and making of this movie, it'll be a great experience watching this movie.

Stars like Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon, Kerry Washington, Andre Braugher and Gonzalo Menendez are in this movie and the superhero team includes in the movie as:
Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, who can elongate his body;
Susan Storm / Invisible Woman, who not only can become invisible at will but can render other objects invisible;
Johnny Storm / Human Torch, who can shoot fire from his finger tips and bend flame; and
Ben Grimm / The Thing, a hideously misshapen monster with superhuman strength.
Have fun watching it.

Chatting habit killed a man
Internet chatrooms are filled with chatters of all kinds. Some take it as fun, some take it as an educational purpose and some took it damn seriously.

Kevin Neil Whitrick,42 years old Bristish, an electrical engineer by profession, father of 12 years old twin, hanged himself to death after being provoked by other chatters in the chatroom.
Kevin Neil Whitrick whose nickname was Shyboy-17-1 in paltalk.com, was found to be living solitude life after the split with her wife Paula and involving most of his time online chatting. It was also found he had a serious car accident many years ago and he was not fully recovered. The connections of all these issues are being joined with his suicide. It was believed he was drunk all the time and the evening he died, he was drunk that time too.

It is one of the chatter who informed police about all this incident after he saw Kevin Hanging himself and dying in the webcam view. Some thought it was just a hoax but somehow someone managed to call cops and when cops reached the scene, he was already dead.
Police are still investigating on the chatters who were there talking to Kevin. I don't know why people take seriously this online thing especially, this chatrooms. They shouldn't care what the f**k others say. Now, Kevin is dead and all those are equally responsible who made him dead. They taunted, egged him if he could do(die) or not. And finally, out of frustration, he did that stupid act.
Chatrooms are just mere chatrooms, we should learn from them, we should teach people about things, we should interact but when the limit crosses, something unusual happens which we should avoid by any chances. It's true and personally i've also felt that many times, i felt like blow my monitor screen out of rage when i can't get that insulting gross being on other side, but it's better to be wise than fool. If i would've smashed my monitor, i would have proved myself as a fool. My only concern is not to take these chat things so seriously, not even when we're boozed. Chatrooms are just chatrooms, people are real in the form of text/audio but that's not a real world. Real world is different. It has it's own perspective. If we are ready to take it that way, we'll win else we'll always loose. Don't be another Kevin. RIP Kevin.

Free Domain name, myth or reality??

Today, i read one strange thing on Sudeep's Blog that is about " Getting Free Domain ". We can get free banner/AD supported hosting space with the ugly domain names appearing all the time in the URL bar. But about the domain, i was quit skeptical and am still skeptical.
The site called fanku.net is giving away free domain names as it claims boldly. It can't give you free space, but just a mere domain name which you must point to some other long URL link of yours. At first it may excite us but giving domain name for free, which we have to pay for normally, seems crazy idea.
The owner of Fanku.net is Vincent Valentine as Registrant and the Registrar of this Fanku.net domain is the notorious godaddy. Now, the question, will Godaddy allow this man to give free domain names?? or is there any tie-up between them? may be Yes, else Godaddy would already have frozen his domain name. He also feared that if this project works, he could be rich else he could be bankrupt. That means, this guy is shelling out his own money for his so-called free domains which as a end user we are supposed to get. This is clear when anyone who signup for free has to wait for sometime or for queue-up. If this guy were an experienced network administrator or engineer, we wouldn't have to wait that long but since he's buying domains from third party and providing us for free(it seems to me that way,at least), it'll take times. Or i doubt does he really give Domain for free? since, Sudeep has not got his domain name yet(after several days of request). I doubt if this guy(Vincent) is cybersquatting.
Trade-off(disadvantage): You'll have to show their Banners at the end of page(which is ugly).
Sign of Sigh(advantage): long url will get short unique name (eg: http://mychemistryblog.blogspot.com/ could be just http://www.mychemistryblog.com )
Try your luck, best of luck and words of suggestion: don't give genuine domain names in your mind for the time being. Just try if it works with less important names.

EarthQuake in Kathmandu, Nepal
These days, there is a hot issue going on which is all about Earthquake. Peoples are making wrong/right assumptions, i don't know but making guesses about so-called upcoming destructive earthquake in Kathmandu. To my surprise, it's also said that within a specific time period, there is strong chances of witnessing a very massive destructive earthquakes.

Map of our country, Nepal
I don't know how this rumors got spread like a wildfire, but whoever you ask, i bet, they've heard this more or less. There have been minor earthquakes in past. But the most devastating earthquake in our country's history was of 1934 A.D(1990 B.S), nearly 73 years ago from today's time. This incident took place within the boundary of Nepal-bihar area and nearly 16,000 people got killed together from Nepal and India during those days. My grandfathers were kids during those time and when i ask them about that 'nabbey(90) saal' atrocity, they barely remember it. So, 3 generations have been born since that natural disaster of 1990 and we've not yet faced any fierce tremors like that. But, these days, speculations are being made comparing the same historical disaster. People are feared that it could happen anytime in coming days. This kinds of rumors were spread around 4 years ago too. When i, along with my buddies were passing by the narrow 'gallis' of Ason, we were blatantly making gossips like ' what would happen if earthquakes come right at this moment,.. look at these narrow pathways, we're gonna squeeze like insect inside these rubbles, there would be no electricity, communications if that happens blah blah' .. and now the same talk is getting hot.

'Nabbey Saal' reminiscences (Click for the larger view). An entire temple structure has been shown wiped out, after that quake.
I pray to god that don't let this happen ever but we can't help and stop nature's play. We can at least take precautionary steps before any disasters. No humans can stop natural atrocities, but due to advance of science, we are at least in the stage to predict the upcoming natural havocs. Scientists can foresee Tsunamis and major flood/storm situation and inform related authorities which in turn help people evacuate in time. Nobody can stop these. But, in the context of our country, we've no option and we don't even have any infrastructure to support proper evacuation.
I read that mother earth keeps changing it's shapes from time to time. The continents were not like this around 1000 years ago. The changes in platonic rocks will definitely create vibration and those vibration,(scientist termed it as seismic waves), will change the face of earth from time to time. The continents got separated. Seas formed. Once green area transformed into desert. All because of this quakes. So , this is an inevitable natural process. We can at least be ready for such atrocities. But, when i see the densely packed old houses in center of Kathmandu, i pity on them. What happens to them, if this undesired incident takes place. Do they have any chance at all to escape away? i think certainly not. There are thousands of old houses which are not properly built or say not a shockproof at all. But i don't either believe the big engineered complexes buildings too. Around a year ago, i read on one paper that in Pokhara, a new Hospitals ceilings fell off and many peoples died on the spot. Now, when such new buildings are prone to risk even without a slightest shake of a quake, then are we in a state to see all these new buildings as a safe place? i think these huge buildings will be the real killers if this happens.
People can try to run and stay at the plain areas where there is no huge buildings but plain grass area. In Kathmandu, i see that huge tudikhel ground to remain safe. But, during the course of time, Kathmandu has got the maximum population it could attain. Now, there is no free land left. Even as a kid, the free ground i saw and once was my playground, there are houses and playgrounds everywhere. The bagmati rivers where i used to swim and nearby riverbanks where we used to take rest and lift a breath of utmost bliss, now there are big carpet factories and other sort of pollution generating industries and ugly chemicals flowing directly to the rivers. So far, there is no free space in my area to run away and get safe. There are electrical wires running thousand volts current, big unsafe transformers(can act like an explosive during such situation) in each crossroads and the path i walk. God bless us.
Let's see, this rumor be just rumor.
Be safe.

Google misused as a terror tool !!!!
Google Earth is a service provided by Google. It consists of the aerial photos of terrotories sent by satellites. Google Earth is growing and it's updating it's database with the aerial photos of every land, every place, every country it could get. This digitization of mapping of earth could benefit lots of people. It's equally helpful in sorting Geographic location. It's useful in implementing GPS(Global positioning system) too.
But , who knew Terrorists could use Google Earth to plot their scheme. That happened when one Terrorist referred his cohorts to take help of Google Earth's map to carry out their terrorist operations. It came to know that the images provided them were unclear and so one of them advised to take help of Google earths images for clarity and full-proof operation.

The incident is not so far, it's just few days ago when terrorists 'attempt' to explode the John F. Kennedy airport was foiled by US officials.
Needless to say, Google is still a hackers best tool.

Beware of fake Microsoft security alerts
With Microsoft's monthly patch release expected on Tuesday, scammers are sending out fake security bulletins that attempt to install malicious software on victim's computers.
The e-mail messages claim to describe a "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer" that fixes a critical security flaw in the browser. It comes with a link entitled "Download this update."
When users click on this link, they are taken to a server that attempts to install malicious software known as Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Agent.avk.
This Trojan software then attempts to reach out to other computers on the Internet in order to install more programs on the victim's computer.
The SANS Internet Storm Center received its first and only report of the scam on Thursday night, but a second sample has also been posted to the Chinese Internet Security Response Team blog.
SANS volunteer Lenny Zeltser believes that the criminals behind this scam may be gearing up for more activity. The trojan looks for three different servers, and two of them have domains that haven't yet been registered. He suspects the authors of the scam may be planning to register those domains before embarking on a more widespread campaign.
The two e-mail samples contained obvious errors that would be caught by technically savvy users. For example, although the patch Zeltser examined claimed to have been issued in June 2007, it was entitled MS06-4 instead of the more-plausible MS07-004.
Still, these scams need to fool only a small percentage of victims in order to be successful, said Zeltser, information security practice leader at Gemini Systems in New York. "You wonder, does it really matter that there are these strange discrepancies in the way the fake security alert is written," he said. "People who would notice probably would be the kind of people who wouldn't click on the link."
Another tip-off: Microsoft does send out notification e-mail when it publishes security bulletins, but the links in these alerts take users to the bulletins themselves, not to executable downloads

Change web page font quickly
I got few notes regarding the font size of my blog. For some, it's not visibly clear.
Here is the workaround.
Use your
CTRL(key) + Scroll button (of your mouse)
To enlarge font of any web page, CTRL + Scroll Up and vice versa.
To keep it normal, go to View menu-> Text Size and change the setting accordingly(Medium).

More and more teens, school goers, public figures, leaders, thinkers, researchers, scientists are spending their most of the time online. Without computer and without being online, it's almost impossible to think of anything today. Banepa's IT Park is struggling for it's existence just because, it has no infrastructure built to provide web connectivity to it's parties. Today, to imagine office without internet and email, it's like being laugh stock of the crowd. So, with this immense adaptation of online activity, people are slowly becoming not so social but whatever, being online has lots of benefits. Without caring of horizons and boundaries, people can interact to each other promptly and in realtime. Thanks to Instant messengers. People these days, turning towards BLOG entries rather than old way of writing diaries on hard copies. I think this is some sort of change we should accept and we should keep up with.
Today, i want to remark on a site called www.ourktm.com . This is a forum based on popular open-source phpbb script and day by day, it's growing and it's user base is increasing with the fabulous topics and threads. This is one of the most popular forum based online portal where more than 600 people instantly keep posting fascinating topics and threads and help each other with the advices and suggestions.
If you've come here through some search engines and reading this page, then, bookmark www.ourktm.com , register your name there and get to know a lot of cultural, social and economic aspects from Nepalese teens around the world.
Nepal is a beautiful country inhabited by beautiful people like you and me but ruled over by ugly crooked leaders. If anyone has anything to say regarding our country NEPAL, then go nowhere, just hop into www.ourktm.com and start making comments. But be ready to get lots of ramblings, criticisms, suggestions and so.

Nepal Telecom seeks help from public

Nepal Telecom has recently published an announcement which notifies the bypass of it's international call by some unauthorized parties in the country. Nepal Telecom wants help from you and me, regarding this problem. NT wants us to inform them at their toll free number 188 regarding the number seen on the caller ID phone when call is received internationally.
Normally, caller id will not display the international callers number but sometimes, even the international callers are mistaken as a local caller because of the local caller's number seen on the phone.
According to NT, it's illegal work of some phone mafia. If they can catch or stop this culprit, they think they can improve their service which i don't believe at all. If they've to improve their service, they don't need any excuses and when there was no competitors in the market, they kindda looted us with exorbitant calling rates. I don't need to add more than this, they even charged us just for receiving calls in mobile phones.
So, i've no sympathy towards them. I would have ditched their land line too if i wouldn't have given numbers to some of my important documents. They'll refer to me sooner or later to NT's land number which i currently own. So, it's hard to disown for the time being but sooner or later, i won't use their any services at all.

Google bought FeedBurner
Google has acquired FeedBurner, a provider of publishing and advertising services for blogs and content syndication feed.
FeedBurner's technology will boost Google's ad network and Web publishing services, Google said. Terms of the deal, which has closed, weren't revealed.
FeedBurner will continue operating as it has until now, so existing customers shouldn't experience any interruptions in service. New customers will be able to continue signing up for FeedBurner services as well. Meanwhile, Google will work to integrate FeedBurner's technologies with a number of its own products.
The volume of Web content and advertising delivered via RSS and Atom feeds has increased significantly in recent years, and Google feels that by acquiring FeedBurner it will be able to capitalize on this growth and expand its advertising reach.
FeedBurner, which has more than 400,000 publishers on its network, will beef up Google's own AdSense publisher network, particularly among blogs, where FeedBurner is stronger than Google, said Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management at Google, during a press conference.
Likewise, Google advertisers will benefit from an expanded ad inventory and ad distribution platform. Finally, FeedBurner shares Google's philosophy of helping end-users find information online with FeedBurner focused on blogs and feeds and Google on search.
"We think this will be a win for users, publishers, and advertisers on the Internet," she said.
FeedBurner, a privately-held company founded in 2003, helps publishers and advertisers with "the spiraling complexity" of online media distribution compounded by RSS feeds, widget applications, and mobile devices, said Dick Costolo, FeedBurner's CEO and co-founder.
"FeedBurner's focus on delivering the right media to the right end point and measuring all that for the publisher means we've got a great opportunity to combine our vision with Google's vision for organizing the world's information," he said.
Despite the executives' enthusiasm, they acknowledged that prior to the acquisition, neither Google nor FeedBurner blocked their respective publishers and advertisers from signing up for each other's services.
Because nothing has prevented publishers and advertisers from taking advantage of both companies' offerings, the real benefits will not materialize until concrete integration happens between the companies' services and operations.
"We're working on how the products will be integrated, but we want AdWords advertisers to very easily have access to the feeds, and we want the FeedBurner publishers to potentially have access to other Google services," Wojcicki said.
Google hasn't been as active as it should have been in the area of syndicated feed advertising, she said.
Beyond the obvious synergy with the Google ad network, FeedBurner services and products could be complementary to Google's syndicated feed manager Reader and Google's Analytics service for tracking sites' usage, she said.
FeedBurner, which has about 30 employees and raised about $10 million in venture capital funding, will keep its operations in Chicago, Costolo said.

GMail Drive
GMail Drive is a virtual drive which sits under the MY COMPUTER directory structure and utilizes your GMail i.e 2000 MB which is allocated to everyone with GMail account.
One can use this space for backup purposes and for any other file management purposes. The only restriction for the time being is that like Windows file system, we can't name our file more than 65 characters. Besides, this Virtual drive is in experimenting phase but it works great.
There are other alternate to virtual storage but since GMail drive is just 146 kb downloadable hack to utilize the GMail's space. I think most of the people would be interested in it.

Clicking the drive would need our Gmail Account verification

USB faults
There is a kid in my neighbourhood. He got a peculiar problem in his computer. There is no error message but his system got hanged when he tried to shut down the PC. I was seeing all these and What i tried , they are as like :
1. i cleared the pagefile, before shutdown. I know it's not possible easily but i managed.
2. i closed all applications before shutdown.
3. i Checked device manager for any conflicting icons
4. and so many others i forgot what i did.
Nothing listed above helped me to get rid of the problem( it just consumed my lots of time). So, something popped into my mind and i knew somehow that USB devices are conflicting. I've experienced that in past. Whenever i tried to work with two cell phones connecting through two USB cables, i got file transfer problems etc. So, i've been using One cellphone at a time in a single computer. Even with the slightest voltage up and down, both my USB keyboard and USB mouse got hanged(after updating motherboard drivers,it got resolved though). So, these are some of the issues with USB things so far i remembered.
And i figured out there is couple of USB devices plugged into his machine (printer, gamepad, scanner etc). Now, taking each and every devices out and checking system was a very long and hectic process to me. So, i tried to resolve that from device manager at first and it worked.
What i did:
1. Go to Device Manager screen ( you can go there in many ways, either type devmgmt.msc in Start-->Run or Right-click the My computer Icon,Click Properties and then click the hardware tab, click the Device Manager button)
2. Click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers. There right-click the USB Root Hub entry and click properties. Click the Power Management Tab and Uncheck "Allow The Computer To Turn Off This Device To Save Power"
Thats it.
Now, the shutdown was successful and no hang-ups.
I think this shouldn't be any problem in newer system.

I recommend not to go for resellers. Either go for reputed webhost company after making lots of research on net and reading some stats like this or don't fall prey on bogus advertisements by them.

Datexx UltraBattery
Datexx UltraBattery is external battery charger for any portable devices like cell phones, blackberry, iPods, PSP, Nintendo DS etc. When this thing is charged fully, it can give at least 3 days of power to other portable devices. Hence, it's useful during unavailability of AC sources nearby and can prove life saver at times.

Since it can charge so many portable devices, it works through the detachable tips. For instance, to charge PSP, it has PSP tips and to charge other devices, it has relevant set of tips to carry out the job. Therefore, connecting the provided one end of USB cable to the UltraBattery and other end of the USB cable to the equivalent Tips (which is to be inserted on the required devices) seems easy. And, it'll be charged.
Currently this is available for approx. NRS 1750(without Tax). In Nepalese market, i've found similar products but which is chinese made.
Note: Not all tips come along with the UltraBattery package. Only the limited sets of tips come along and rest is to be purchased as per need.

Run Off A Linux Distro From A Bootable USB Drive
Okies as i promised a post on Linux . There are so many rumors about Linux. People say that it will not support your hardware and some say that it is for the geeks . What better way to find out than use for yourself . Even if you find it inconvenient to install Linux in your HDD there are live CD available in which you can boot into Linux from the CD or DVD itself . I feel that optical media are not that reliable and and is really slow. But the Linux distro can even run from any USB media like your flash drive. There is a Linux distro Feather Linux (USB Linux) that is dedicated to running Linux in USB devices. But many other distro can be run using some tweaks. This will teach how to run DSL (Damn Small Linux) in a bootable USB drive of size larger than 64 MB .
1) Format your pen drive in fat32 (FORMAT I: /fs:FAT3)
2) Download the dsl-embeded.zip from http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/download.html (DSL is one of the smallest linux distro and is just 49 MB download)
3)Unzip the DSL file to your pen drive
4)Download Syslinux for windows from http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/ (Note that you download syslinux for windows as there are also versions for other OS'es )
5) Go to a command prompt and run syslinux for your drive from \win32\syslinux.exe (SYSLINUX I:)
6) Now reboot and you are ready to go
***** Check out you BIOS option for booting from USB . Some older Motherboard may not support booting from USB.
