How do you use Google search??
Google is ubiquitous. I still remember the day when I first searched on Google. It was in it's infancy and what grabbed my attention was it's simplicity and faster search results. Before Google, I was engaged with Altavista. Altavista had that huge directory like yellow/brownish interface and It was quite an overwhelming for starter where to start and search. Today, when we mean searching something online, Google has become the standard for searching. Though it looks so simple and vulnerable, overtime, it has grown to become as huge as 'kragen', it's tentacles have reached to that extent that to reach there, We've to furnish our searching skill even more.
I still consider myself not an advanced searcher but I don't hesitate calling myself beyond the normal searcher.
I've seen people searching on google with simple keywords. Most of young people search internet for music and if they want some bands mp3 to download, what they do typically is
for ex: "rolling stones mp3 download" and hit Search on google.
If you want to find biography of some great legendary figure, normally, they just enter something like "Elvis Presley Biography" and search.
There are many examples of simple search keywords which people use.
I'm not telling that this is not a proper way of searching but definitely It's not a smart way to search. Somehow you may get to the page you've searched for but after investing your precious times. Smart searching reduces the time taken and I'm going to tell what I know about google searching.
When I came here in USA, my usual search was like this:
"1 gallon in litre"(without quotes) and hit Search button on google.
My father's car gulped 13 gallon at one go and being Nepalese,
I calculated it again as
"13 gallons in litre"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
Similarly, people were using pounds here as for measuring weights. For starter, if they want to know, try this:
"1 pound in kilogram"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
I weighed 74 kilograms and to find my pound value, I typed:
"74 kilograms in pound"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
How about some mile conversion to kilometers? Starter can use this way:
"1 mile in kilometer"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
One day, we drove to San Francisco and my father told me it is some 200 miles far from our place. So, I typed on google how many kilometers we traveled:
"200 miles in kilometer"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
That's it and google gave me all answers at just one go. I think these are the things we learned in school but you should try it in Google. I call it smart search and If you are wondering what is this all about, it's google's Calculator. And, hey if you want to customize such conversions with your own units, DID YOU NOTICE that 'IN' like "1 pound in kilogram". So, don't miss that IN and you'll get mathematical conversion easily.
In addition to that, if you know this following mathematical operator as:
+
-
*
/
then, you can get calculation easily too. for eg:
4*4 and hit search button on google. Try some more using above operators. Wow, it's google's calculater. I bet most of you didn't know this before.
If you know trigonometry, you can use it get the result for some complex formula. Since I'm not so well versed in trigonometry, I dare not describe that here.
Okay, Now, I'll tell you how to effectively search some practical things online. When you search online, don't get easily disappointed with the results. It's because of the keywords you searched for. So, just even a simple word or letter counts while searching.
I was searching for a picture of Moon which my father showed me in real life. The only thing I knew about the picture is that it's taken from Alaska and that's how it looked from Alaska. At first, I didn't believe but I tried following keywords,
"moon view from Alaska"(without keywords) and clicked the Images tab on Google's search engine. All I found were regular normal sized moon pictures. Pronto, I started playing with different keywords like:
"moon from Alaska"(without quotes) on Image search and I saw queer thumbnail of the same moon photo on first result of the page.
I removed the search keyword 'view' from above because, 'View' as a search keyword is very common word and to narrow my search and to get precise result, I removed that and I got my expected result at one go. Basically, when we search online, we've to take care of these things and remove unnecessary common words from the keywords apart from the one we're searching for. I couldn't delete 'moon' because, that's what I was searching for and I could've included 'moon picture from Alaska' or 'moon photo from alaska' but as I wrote earlier, 'Photo' and 'picture' they were again so common words not good for precise and quick result.
I quickly used the same keywords("moon from alaska") to find some information on WEB(not image). Well, there wasn't any relevant informations on it. I again played with keywords, used little bit of common sense( I knew Alaska is somewhere near North Pole) and this time I entered:
"moon from North pole"
Voila, there was the first page which had the exact information I was looking for. That's How I did, Ametya Ji.
Now, to get little on advance level, if you are searching some information from a particlue site, remember this keyword:
"site:"(without keywords)
suppose I want so search some informations from my own blog, like about games. so my keyword would be:
"game site:meroguff.com"(without quotes) and hit the search button on google.
That's it, you'll get all the results only from meroguff.com highlighting the searched phrase or keyword 'game'. Just remember this ,"site:"(without quotes) keyword to use. You could ask me why not go to site itself and use it's search bar, it's again same thing, being smart. You could choose long cut or short cut. I like short cut. If you are wondering how google knows all about my/your blogs and sites, because, google's search spiders crawl your sites and blogs all the time at definite period of time. And, they've records or snapshots of your site's data. You don't believe me?? here's how:
use this following keywords:
cache:www.somedeadsites.com
what this "cache:" does is that It keeps the snapshots of websites periodically. If you see some sites dead or not opening recently, just use "cache:www.somedeadsite.com" and you shall see that site still opening. But these days, google seems keeping records of only 3 days old records.
Now, to search or get definition of some keywords, you may want to use search keywords followed by a word called "define".
It's just like asking search genie your questions:
Try this:
"define love"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
You could just use 'love' as your search keyword but the results would be vague again, as I wrote before. If some keywords are popular enough, you don't need to worry about because, most of the online encyclopedias like wikipedia would store them on their database.
Search this:
"Prashant Tamang"(without quotes) and hit search buttong on google.
What do you see is the first result stored by wikipedia. So, normally, if you are seeking for some information which are quite popular would be stored by sites like wikipedia but what if the search keywords are not that popular. You still can force it to search if it's there in Wiki or not just by using following keywords:
"keywords" +wiki
Did you notice "+wiki"?? that plus sign will tell google to include sites with 'wiki' word.
From above example, if you don't want to see information from wiki but from some other sites, use the following keywords:
"Prashant Tamang -wiki"(without quotes) and hit search button on google.
So, this '+' and '-' here are not mathematical operators but are used to include or omit the search results relevant to those searched keywords.
Eg: Apple (search for keyword 'apple' on google). What do you see? it's just Apple computers official site at first link, right?
Now, try this
"Apple +fruit -computer"(without quotes) and hit search button on google
This will only show the result relating to fruit but omitting all the results which are related to computers. So, this is smart search, I call. You could use and try that '+' and '-' for other different purpose. Just try it.
Now more advanced and somewhat unethical searching. It's like Get what you want. Are you searching for some ebooks online??
For example, if I'm in need of some ebooks based on visual basic, I would use following keywords.
intitle:"index of" "visual basic" ebook
intitle:"index of" - will fetch the sites with the title 'index of' and why we are using this because, most of the web sites are structured that way. Index will show the directory contents most of the time. So, this intitle:"index of" will give you the precise results for downloads of anything. Here you could use the title of the book most of the time, or you can try with authors name too. Just try and experiment.
And, to search music:
intitle:"index of music" "elvis presley"
or
intitle:"index of mp3" "elvis presley"
or
intitle:"index of music" "elvis presley" mp3
Don't use some thing like "elvis presley song" etc. Just narrow your site and you'll get what you want shortly.
I don't know if I should be writing this following keywords or not, but, I'm just letting you know these things are the black art of searching things online. If you are searching for some softwares, use following keywords
"(Name of the software) +softwarez +blog"(without quotes) and hit enter on search button of google
These are the keywords, I just discovered myself and I'm not telling anything more than that :)
Hope you had wonderful learning
and thanks for reading.
If you've any questions, let me know :)

Do you like rainy season?
Past few days, It's been raining here. And, it's just raining. I don't like rainy seasons I dunno why but whoever I asked, I've never met someone who has said he/she doesn't like rain. May be I'm the only guy who doesn't like rain.
But, today, it did stop for few hours. After a tiresome trip to San hose and back to home, I took my usual evening walk and roamed around the Wharf. I saw Sea Otter floating on the water trying to break some sort of shell, may be for it's dinner which it might have picked from the surface below the sea.

Hope you didn't get bored with my rambling.

The Legend of the PINK LADY aka the Umbrella Man in Santa Cruz
The very first time, I came here in Santa Cruz,CA few months ago, I did notice one very eccentric person slowly walking in downtown, pacific avenue back and forth. He's walking just inch by inch and anyone would guess that to cover 100 meter distance, It would take whole day for him. When I first saw him/her, I couldn't figure out if He is He or She but later I was told it's HE who always dresses up in Pink colored clothing. He's therefore called the Pink Lady. Since, there is a pink umbrella with him all the time, he's also known as Pink Umbrella Man of Santa Cruz. I didn't care much before because I thought he was just another Whacko. But around a week ago, I saw a cartoon published on local news paper on him and I was thinking 'wow, he's on newspaper and people makes money by drawing his cartoon, wow'. ...
Just a few days ago, I walked with my friend to downtown and suddenly the Pink Lady became our topic of discussion. From her, I came to know that he's quite famous in Santa Cruz. I was calling him weirdo and not paying much respect, but my friend was talking about his real identity and so. She wasn't so clear about him either. But, whatever she told me, I was compelled to change my view towards him.
Once, I tried to observe him carefully and attempted to talk with him but he awkwardly kept smiling. That really made me feel bad and may be that was the reason which caused me to have no respect to him.
Oh, then, I came back to home, I asked my father, My aunt about that guy and didn't get quite a satisfactory answers. They've lived her for years and they didn't know the things about here much. So, a blink of light and next I was sitting in front of my computer searching on him.
Gosh, there is a rumor about this guy, some say he's Teacher at UCSC, some say he's former millionaire and some even say he's an electrical engineer. I always wondered who he is, where he comes from, I really don't know. But some other neighbor told me that they saw him shopping once and so. One blog though, wrote about him as , "Umbrella Man", a former NASA electrical engineer whose real name is Robert Steffen, has been a downtown fixture in Santa Cruz for years."
Whatever, he's actually become an icon of Santa Cruz. So, anyone who knows Santa Cruz will tell a word or two about this PINK LADY aka The pink Umbrella Man.

Extra-ordinary moon from North Pole
Today, I was having a little chit-chat with my father and unconditionally he showed me one photo. The photo was like from some dreamland. I couldn't believe it. He told me that, that was how Moon looks from north pole. Upon asking more, he told me that his friend gave him the photo and he collected it as souvenir. I just couldn't believe. Because, I felt, if moon came that near to earth, then only God knows what would happen next. I've never ever seen the moon of that size and I've never been taught that moon would look that big from some part of the earth.
I searched on Internet and I found the exact photo(which is below). We all know that in North Pole, there sun never sets for whole 6 months. And, I found people writing that the following picture has been taken during the month of June in North Pole, where sun is getting ready to go down. And, that Magnificent view of Moon was captured. That was their views. Quite convincing!!
But, somehow I managed to find that It wasn't real. Because, I spent few more minutes searching on Google out of disbelief and I got the real answer hidden deep within.
Snopes.com has revealed the real truth behind this mysterious photo and the creator of this magnificent digital image is Inga Neilson, a german student. If you go and check his site, you'll find his other creations similar like this.
He was using Terragen(Terragen™ is capable of photorealistic results for professional landscape visualisation, special effects, art and recreation.),a computer software which can generate real lifelike digital terrain images.
I've used Terragen before and it's wonderful free software. You can grab the idea how to work with it within few minutes and start creating your own wonderful dreamlands. Followings are my Terragen images which I did few months ago. Not impressive but I tried.

I announce my New Blog www.technewsnepal.com
Past few days, I was busy as dog to start my new blog. Actually, the domain name www.technewsnepal.com was bought around a year ago and since then, I just experimented with it with nothing useful to tell about. I was actively participating in this blog of mine(meroguff) and still I am. Now on, I'll be maintaining two blogs at a time.
Meroguff will be more focused on everything related to tech, fun, reviews, gossips and so, whereas www.technewsnepal.com will be strictly and strictly related to tech only and I'm glad to see that within a week of working on it, I'm getting lots of visitors. I didn't even promote my blog at all and visitors are already flocking in. I submitted my blog to one blog network site today and it's waiting for approval. I'll do this in coming days with other network sites too and I'm sure, www.technewsnepal.com will draw the attention of many.
The major difference between Meroguff and technewsnepal.com would be the engine they are using. Meroguff is totally based upon blogger engine whereas technewsnepal.com is proudly running on latest wordpress 2.3.2
One more thing, I should take a note of, is that technewsnepal.com would be independently running off it's own server. I've managed to load videos(good bye YouTube) from my own server and even managed to load shoutbox script from my own server. So, everything and everything will be running there using my paid server's resources. I'm glad I did that.
Previously, I had some favorite videos on YouTube and somebody deleted the video, at that time, I felt that I should've downloaded the videos and stored somewhere on my box. So, I learned that and I've installed a YouTube Video downloader script on my own server. Now, no worries, I'll get whatever YouTube videos that I like, download it and upload it to my own server instead of linking it with YouTube's server.
So, this is my new blog, www.technewsnepal.com
Hope you'll like my new baby :)

Thank you for reading :)

How to recover data from your computer
Ramola's computer was working fine yesterday. But this morning, her computer stopped working. What she saw on her computer screen was just dark blank screen. Nothing, not even a BIOS details. What could've gone wrong? She called his friend Kevin, who's bit techie. He visited her leaving all his work. He checked her PC and finally told her, her motherboard's capacitor is dead. She was worried about her data on her harddrive which were more important to her. She wanted them at any cost. Kevin took out her harddrive which fortunately was working, Kevin backed up all the data off the harddrive, burnt it into some optical medias. He even changed her new motherboard and luckily same drive worked for her without hassles. Ramola had to pay some $100 dollars just for getting her data backed-up. But how did he do that?
I want to thank Jim Owens for providing me with his best selling ebook called 'How to recover data from harddrive' and thanks Jim for letting me distribute this ebook on behalf of my readers. I really appreciate his greatness.
This ebook has all details which any newbie could learn quickly. It's all step by step instructions with 90% photographs and 10% description. That's not boring right? It's extremely helpful to solve your computer problems easily.

Smart buyers buy at SAVEBUCKET
Hey, how much do you pay for any products in the market? Do you pay whatever it's labeled on products?? I've faced many awkward situations when I really wanted to buy something but didn't have enough money to spend on. Later, it's no where in the Market and while sitting on the couch one evening, I read news of low price sale of the same product. Moreover, (jeez), it's somewhere getting sold, not even in my nearest retail marketplace. You really gotta see my face at that time. My intention is not to presume that there are all people as unfortunate as me, however, if you are not seller, then the situation I've mentioned must have come through your life at one time. I bet on that.
With the advent of e-commerce technology, millions of people shop online. Many of them are paying just like the way, I've mentioned in above paragraph. Paying retail price. My focus is to let my readers know about how effective it would be if we get the same products at much much lower price without compromising on quality and feature.
Your key to smart buying is SAVEBUCKETS.CO.UK or you can just type SAVEBUCKETS.COM
It's same thing. When I write 'Smart buying' doesn't necessarily mean SAVEBUCKETS is selling things online. Nope, it's not selling anything, it's rather helping buyers like you and me to make an appropriate decisions and do smart shopping at lower price than of retails. SAVEBUCKETS.CO.UK brings all the companies, all the sellers at one place, it makes price comparisons and publishes the prices of product that we want to pay for. If you like one particular product, you've choices to make from which sellers you want to buy. There will be links to sellers, find your favorite seller and make your purchase online.
There are couple of things that I must not forget to mention. SAVEBUCKETS.CO.UK as a product comparison site has many exciting features. Two of them, which I liked most are:
My Price
Search Shops you know
My Price;
If you found something interesting product but don't have enough cash to shell out at that moment(which I faced many times before), 'My Price' allows you to stick to your budget when buying. Just enter your email address and the maximum amount you are prepared to pay against the product you've selected. They will then check the price of that product whenever a shop on their service(site) has changed the price and contact you by email when the price has reached or fallen beneath your maximum price with a link directly to that shop(seller).
This is lifesaver for buyers like me who don't have to face any awkward situations that I've mentioned in the early of this post. And, this 'MY PRICE' is always below the product of your interest to assist you. Isn't that cool?
And, another feature is "Search Shops you know".
This is a search box on their very first main page of the site. There are two options; Search all shops and Search Shops you know.
I'm particularly interested on this 'Search Shops you know' because most of the buyers, instinctively follow only the shops which are popular, favorites of many, where considerable number of buyers flocks in and out regularly. And, 'Search Shops you know' will show only those shops which are most visited or where most online purchases are made. Besides, there is no harm dealing with other shops too because you can get great bargains from these shops as well..
Few days ago, accidentally my brother's Sony Mp3 player got crushed under the car's wheel. I was looking for a substitute and guess what, I found arrays of mp3 players listed on SAVEBUCKET.CO.UK. I've never seen such cheap and best offers. He's gonna choose one from these. Besides, these guys have linked to so many products of our interests, they are as follows :
* Baby Products
* Body Care & Cosmetics
* Books
* Cars & Motorbikes
* Clothing
* Communication
* Computer Hardware
* Computer Services
* Computer Software
* Consumer Electronics
* Electronic Games
* Food, Drink & Tobacco
* Games & Gadgets
* Gifts
* Health & Wellbeing
* Home & Garden
* Music
* Office & School
* Sport & Leisure
* Tickets & Events
* Travel
* Video & DVD
In addition to that, they've safety guides while buying online. You can find Guide to buying Safely Online here.
And, what they are saying, you can actually listen to this audio link below:
Thank you for reading.

My consolidated views on Gaming History
Be it kid or old, everyone loves games. No matter how professional they are in their field or to which extent they pretend as mature or grown up, there is a kid always inside who become kid with their kids playing games. Do you remember playing Pacman or say Tetris for hours? What about Super Mario in Mushroom Land? These are my all time favorites which just run fine on my cellphone's game emulator, now. Just trying to recall how these wonderful games have been developed overtime.
I grew up playing mario on NES system then. Gradually, the 8 bit gaming changed to 16 bit ,to 32 bit and so. When I recall those days, it really makes me feel go back to that time and have fun again,whatever..
..In 1952, A.S. Douglas created the first graphical computer game. It was a version of Tic-Tac-Toe , programmed on the EDSAC vaccum-tube computer, which had a cathode ray tube dsiplay. It wasn't truly a computer game but William Higginbotham created what might have been the first vdeo game, in 1958. His game, called 'Tennis for Two', was created and played on a Brookhaven National Laboratory oscilloscope.
In 1972, the first commercial home game system was launched the Magnavox Odyssey, by Magnavox, in the US. Designed by Ralph Baer , the first commercial video game console that could be used in home, the Odyssey, was released by Magnavox in 1972.
The first arcade video game that used vector graphics instead of a raster diplay was Space Wars. The game was released in 1977.
In 1978, Atari Football became the first arcade game to use a track ball.
The first computer book to sell one million copies was 101 BASIC computer games. It was published in the US by Creative Computing in 1978.
The Mattel Intellivsion was released in 1980, and was the first 16-bit home game console.
On JUne 17, 1980, Atari's 'Asteroids' and 'Lunar Lander' were the first two video games to be registered in the copyright office.
Did you know 'Tetris' had sold over 40 million copies worldwide , since it began in 1982. That comes to $800 million in revenues!(gulp) yeap, that's true. Back then, it rocked. And, later the same game as the first software to be imported form the Soviet Union to the US was Tetris, developed in 1985 by Alexey Pazhitnov.
In 1981, Shigeru Miyamoto, guided by Gunpei Yokoi, made the first game for Nintendo starring Mario, which was previously the arcade game Donkey Kong. And, Mario, one of the best known video game characters, was named after Nintendo's landlord.
Extraordinary performance by ZackKim
If you are wondering about the word Nintendo, then it is composed of three Japanese Kanji characters, Nin-ten-do. These character can be translated into "Heaven blesses hard work". Cool eah?? I bet you didn't know this before.
Gunpei Yokoi was the creator of the Game Boy and Virtual Boy. He worked on Famicom, the Metroid series, Game Boy Pocket and did extensive work on the system we know today as the Nintendo Entertainment System.
PacMan got its name from the Japanese word "pacu", meaning "to munch". Since "pacu" is pronounced the same same as "f... you", only with a 'p' sound, its name was changed to "pacman"
In 1988, Sega entered the video game market with Genesis, which was called MegaDrive in Japan. The console, with 16-bit processor, was the first to challenge Nintendo's monopoly.
Nintendo started its enterprise in 1889, when the great-grandfather of the current Nintendo president, Fulsajiro Yamauchi, founded Nintendo Koppai, which made special playng cards called Hanafunda ("flower cards").
Sega released Sonic the Hedfehog in 1991 as a direct response to Nintendo's super NES gaming system.
Microsoft's Flight Simulator became the best selling PC game of all time after its release in 1993.
The first 32-bit home video game system was the Panasonic 3DO released in 1993.
Sony released a matte black version of its Playstation in 1997, which enabled programmers to create their own video games in the C programming language. It was called Net Yaroze.
The Sega Dreamcast, released in 1999, was the first console game machine to sport a 128-bit architecture.
Did you know that an estimated 1 lakh copies of the playstation game Tiger Woods 99 were recalled after The Spirit of Christmas, a clip in which Jesus Christ and Santa Claus get into fistfight over the true meaning of Christmas was discovered in a hidden file on the CD-ROM? The recall was necessitated due to the fact that the clip was unauthorized and was full of expletives.
Playstation 2 hit the shelves in Japan on March 4, 2000 and sold 98000 units in four hours.
Rest we all know, Wii,PS3 and XBOX 360 live?? they are swirling in the market now. Time will tell us in coming days, which of these is the record breaker and all time favourite.

Ashop Commerce
People do pay the cost for owning a web host space/services/features and domain name. In addition to that, they are burdened with extra expenses for setting up their site, putting flesh and muscles to it. Believe it or not, the money they pay to some professionals to set the site up, it's exorbitantly much much more than they pay for owning the space and domain space. Some are adventurous enough trying to figure out things themselves and they try to setup online store for themselves. That's the invitation to the lots of troubles, time wastage, headaches, not properly working site interface, unprofessional look et cetera. Why am i writing all these?? Because, one can't deny the existence of online business. If you buy things from ebay and amazon, then you are already acquainted with the power of e-business. Do you think you can't make sites like one of them?? Do you think you'll have to spend thousands of dollars trying to learn how to setup online stores like that? Well, forget about all the troubles, it's passe.
You can now setup an online store without knowing any html or web programming. Any novice sellers and business entrepreneurs can setup their online store at ease without paying a penny to any middleman. but HOW?? The answer is ASHOP COMMERCE.
Ashop Commerce is a world-class provider of shopping cart software, internet programming and digital imaging who cater toward small to medium sized businesses that are looking to build or simply start their online division of business.
This shopping cart software is extremely easy to use and all you've to do is to work online and set things online. I've never found any ecommerce software like this so easy to work with. I'd also like to add that the 24/7 support team is excellent and one doesn't have to worry about anything. Their comprehensive knowledge base is extremely useful when someone comes across questions. If you are skeptical about how it would be after you pay the money, don't worry. Their free 10 days trial account is absolutely for people like you. One doesn't have to use credit card to get 10 days trial account. It's just sign up and you start working with. You'll realize that they really are worth of your money. So, it's up to you what to do next. If you want to try their service without signing up, you can select their LIVE DEMO pronto and feel how it's gonna be when you buy their service.
Thus, if you are thinking to setup your own business online, then this is the right time not to think but to purchase their service. Don't worry about domain name, web space, shopping cart software etc. Leave all these to them. They'll take care of it. The only thing for one to do is, just put their business and product informations. And the cost is perfectly feasible. Think of the money you would spend on middleman to set all things up for you when you purchase their plan. My verdict is i've never found shopping cart software so easy to setup/use and so affordable.

"The Web bot project " and the year 2012
Did you know that each word you type and save on your blogs or forums or discussion boards (wherever on Internet), you are contributing to shape the future. I,as a blogger, felt good that when I was enlightened with a wisdom that I'm at least helping to create prophecies. You too are contributing.
Be it Nostradamus or Einstein, they had always been foretelling future(based on their mathematics and calculation)that was far way beyond their times. It's still subject matter of controversy that things closely turned out as of their predictions. If you ask me, when I study their analysis to present context, It forces me to believe all those controversies, all those predictions, all those prophecies. Once I read some predictions of Nostradamus where he wrote somewhere about the demise of entire humankind but before that he'd written some of the things like humankind has to go through terrible phases like incurable disease, losing self-conscience, disaster, natural calamities etc. To my judgment, all these are happening. Global warming being the major issue. War among nations for petty reasons, rise of terrorist group whose intention is to destroy peace, unnatural Climatic change, turmoil all over the geography of the planet, these are not good omen.
Oops, I unintentionally diverted myself to different topic. I was writing about how we are contributing to build the prophecy of our time. It's all about Internet and the project started in the late 1990's to assist in making stock market predictions(pretty accurate), is now being used to predict the future of entire human civilization. It's well known as 'The Web Bot Project'. Believe it or not, according to them they predicted major events, few of them were 9/11 and Tsunamis. People didn't believe, they're still skeptical about this particular technology but now the same researchers involved on the same project are predicting some devastation outcome in 2012. This has created some sort of sensational vibes among the researchers and scientists. Even normal people like me are equally the part of this prediction and much concerned about their sayings.
According to aphroditeastrology, "The technology(web bot project) uses a system of spiders to crawl the Internet and search for keywords, much like a search engine does. When a keyword is located, the bot program takes a snapshot of the text preceding and following the keyword. This snapshot of text is sent to a central location where it is then filtered to define meaning. "
And, if you are interested to read, what are the predictions of Web Bot project, click here or to know something about the project and people behind it, click here. You will be forced to believe that it's working and even if you don't believe, we can think ourselves, where are we going? We shouldn't be just limited to our daily home chores, our own selfishness, our monthly salaries, luxuries, affairs etc. Lets think above it and lets think where are we heading towards. These are the things which I often ask myself and I don't find any answers. But when I come into some conclusion, well.. that's not good enough to write about. I don't want to emphasize on superficial thing, I'm just asking to use your own judgment.
Whatever, we're shaping future and precisely, contributing to predict/foresee the future, our very own future. I never knew the technology would do that but It's slowly drawing attention. May be yours too. If you knew about this, please share with me, even if you've never heard about this, lets learn and discuss.

The World's thinnest notebook "Apple MacBook Air "
Few days ago, Apple Inc. Chief Executive Steve Jobs unveiled his latest Macbook series notebook called 'Apple Macbook Air'. Never showed much interest on Apple products other than Apple iPhone, this Apple Mackbook Air is even more astonishingly thinnest notebook I've every seen till date.
Steve Jobs announced that Apple Macbook Air would even fit inside a normal Envelope and when he said/showed that, It was unbelievable. It was extremely thin and when measured it's almost somewhere between 0.16 - 0.76 inch. It's not even an inch.

According to him, other so-called thinnest notebooks have compromised on display(low display screen),keyboard(resulting miniature keyboard),processing power(low processing speed), and so to achieve their kind of thinness on their notebooks. But, his Apple Macbook Air delivers all latest features with no compromise on anything.
Apple Macbook Air specifications are as follows:
- 0.16-0.76 inches thickness

Buy Quality speakers at Half the price
I came across a site called http://www.thespeakercompany.com which is selling quality loudspeakers at about half the price than retailers do. You may be wondering why half the price than retailers because, they are directly dealing with consumers cutting off all the middleman involved within. And, It helps in saving extra money to spend and I think it's very nice offer for consumers like us who is looking for great quality speakers at reduced price. They're no less than other big names in retail markets.
The same speakers would cost double the price at retail than this site is offering. And, I'm planning to get one for me. Since, I don't have one good speaker for my computer right now, I'm planning to get one of the PC speakers for myself. One of these are most suitable for me and quite affordable too. People looking for other kind of speakers like Bookshelf speakers,In Wall Speakers, Outdoor speakers etc are also available. In fact, if you visit their site, you will find all the speakers nicely categorized and moreover, for newbie like me, they've very nice guide on how to choose left/right Main speakers, surround speakers, subwoofer, outdoor speakers and in-depth guide to In-wall & In-ceiling Speakers. Their pricing for the best and snazziest speakers available today, is really irresistible. And, purchasing is just a piece of cake. Just Order online using your Credit card. Besides, shipping is free within the United States. That's the added benefit for people living in US.
So, this is obviously a good offer that nobody likes to miss. As their slogan says 'Quality Speakers Half the price',they live up to it by providing great products and service at an affordable half price than that of similar products in the retail markets.

Entrecard really made me write some words
Entrecard is a site which according to them acts like a real business card but for online world of bloggers. You just drop your card to whichever blog you visit and blogger behind the blog will get you noticed.
It's been almost 2 weeks for me ever since I used Entrecard. The response is good. Besides, the blog has to be the Entrecard member to be able to drop or get dropped. Signup is a cakewalk.
The fuel of Entrecard is the entrecard credits. When you signup, you'll start with zero credit and to earn credit, it's simple. Drop your card to every blog which is displaying Entrecard Widget. Each drop you make, you'll earn one credit. So, if you drop your card to 100 blogs daily, you'll earn 100 credits daily. Simple!! It seems quite hectic and time consuming though. Now, advertising plays the role to earn quick credits. If some advertisers come and place their adverts on you, you'll have to approve the advert request. By doing so, you'll earn some quick entrecard credits. How much credits you'll earn from advertisers depends upon how many entrecard bloggers dropped their cards to yours. If 15 people drop their cards to yours, your credit value becomes double the number of people who dropped their cards on yours. So, 15 people dropping their cards will make you earn 30 entrecard credits from individual advertiser.

Most of the time, new entrecard members are bombarded with advert requests since it costs too less to advertise on new entrecard member's blog.
It compels you to visit blogs everyday, drop your card and earn some credits. Initially, when I did drop my card, I just didn't care much about the blog contents. My only intention was to earn credits as fast as possible so that I could advertise my blog on some other popular blogs. But, as I started dropping my card on daily basis, I came across some interesting blogs where now I spend considerable amount of my time reading them.
No matter if you don't care at first, but finally you'll start noticing blogs where you drop your cards. That happened to me and I think Entrecard, the idea is brilliantly working.
The reason behind this post today is because, I want to thank one person who is deliberately dropping her card on my blog everyday.
As we know, only one entrecard drop, per blog a day is allowed. She's been dropping her card on mine since 10 days. Truly, I enjoyed reading her blog about her kids, her daily rantings and her personal experiences, stories et cetera.
Hey, SUE, thanks for dropping your card on mine and helping both of us earn some nasty Entrecard credits :) Yeas, you were the top dropper of all within these couple of weeks. And thank you all other droppers too. I'll feature any of you guys for second time(after SUE) once you reach maximum drops(this time 20 drops) on mine.

Thank you for reading thus far.

Computer Education in Nepal
Now the world is progressing much more in science and technology. This is the 21st century where the demand of the technology is more. Information technology made the world smaller and smaller because people can access the whole world from one part of the world. They can shop and get information of the world with one click.
Our country Nepal is quite developing in Information Technology. Nowadays in Nepal different college have started teaching information technology courses to the students. From these courses, student can compete with the international market in IT field. Nowadays, from class II computer education are given to the students in some schools. But the education system of our country is aged. The courses that have been collapsed from the international market are being used in our schools and colleges.
To participate in international market, our education system should be changed and the new system should be raised. From class II to Bachelor level students get bored learning all this history, generation, computer system, and other replicating courses. The market based computer course should be taught in the schools and colleges, so that the unemployment problem can be solved to some extent. If the students get the market based IT course then they can even work in single PC at home and they can earn for their own.
We want to suggest the IT education system of Nepal should be changed and new course should be started which helps the students like us to established our own IT career and work for the country and the unemployment problem of the country can be solved somehow by the youth of the country. Some universities should provide the online graduation course so that student can work while studying. Some of our college say that the student can study in morning class and work in day but after joining the college the morning classes run up to 12PM-2Pm and who will give part time job to those student who have to work and study by the money collected by their work. If such colleges run the online courses, student can learn the course while they are free from the work. We should change the education system of Nepal. If student cannot get the market based courses, how can they work in the market though the course they have learned. So we have to think about that unless the education system of the Nepal is modified, the economic and social status of the country cannot build up.

Ask ' 2008 US Presidential candidates ' techy way
Found a really neat interesting site which will actually try to tell you things about 2008 US Presidential election. If you are planning to think who is right or who is wrong or If already have best candidates in your mind, may be you would like to think..umm one more time .. by chatting with 2008 US Presidential candidates online??
Backed by artificial intelligence(AI) software based on Zabaware's award winning Ultra Hal engine, the site http://www.askthecandidates2008.com has been incorporated with transcripts of all the presidential debates thus far.
If you are discouraged to find that this is not even a real chat session with the candidates(when i wrote 'techy way', i really meant that jeez), don't worry, all the answers you need/get are as authenticated as you've imagined. The candidates on the site will be bot and they'll answer your questions. Select with whom you want to start dialog, hit your questions and there you are.
I found this interesting because, it answered couple of my questions and that helped me to get an idea on American politics. Its quick and easy but questions have to be genuine. Instinctively, don't ask funny/harsh/profane questions, else the relevancy level of answers would be zero.

Born Genius - Extraordinarily Gifted child
Today, i'm posting something out of topic. My topic today is about very unique yet normal human beings. Someone truly has set a notion "Some are born Genius". And, i agree with that. I mean, these extraordinary human beings are none other than the people at their very early ages. I really really wonder how did they achieve such a talents which require ages/years of practice and dedication. For other, it's just a child's play but for child,a mere 6 years old kid himself/herself?? indeed for them too, it's a child's play either. And, when that happens, they usually draw attention of many and we start to think themselves as some gifted people, as some prodigies..
I'm featuring some 7 young talents from hundreds. They are very unique and you'd love to see them.
Chelsea, 6 years old is a great pianist. She doesn't need any notes to look at and play. Indeed an extremely talented girl.
Richard Sandrak, now 11 but, something unusual about this young man is that he started bodybuilding since the age of 6. Most probably, he's the youngest and the most strongest guy of his age in this world.
Lucciano Pizzichini, 7 years old, this dude truly rocks. I loved watching this guy when he played a guitar. This 7 years old strumming guitar strings is unique because, no one of his age could concentrate on music and play guitar with that level of professionalism.
Akiana, 12 years old art prodigy whose paints are extraordinarily magnificent and it looks no way done by some 12 years. But that's true, it's her work and according to her, all of her arts are inspired by GOD. She adds, she have been through heaven and talked to god. Strange but true, because, I saw something strange on her art. Something very beautiful. And, i kind of believing her.
Kendali, 5 years old extraordinarily gifted drummer. Look at him, and you'll go 'oh my god'
Andrey Khlopin, just 10 years old and a great scientist. He tells us about the mystery of transcendent universe. No scientists exist today to tell us what is beyond the Universe but this little guy his own theory. Veteran scientists are shocked and amazed to learn about this theory.
Jonathan,12 years old violin prodigy. No more words left to admire them. Just amazing :)
Hats off to all of these great wonders, great talent!!!

Flickr is having a massage
I was about to check the referral image to Flickr and when i tried to open, Flickr is like having a massage. Ha ha ha, what a humorous way to make people feel good even if they don't see their photos hotlinking to their sites/blogs.
This downtime normally won't last more than an hour(may be few hours) to my knowledge and i was fortunate enough to experience their downtime. Whatever, it just made me laugh when i saw that ' Flickr is having a massage ' ha ha ha. what an imperative way of implying they are having technical difficulties/server maintenance/data center moving blah blah blah.
Whatever, i liked their idea. what do you say?

Chinese blogger murdered
Chinese government officials(city inspectors) beat to death a Chinese blogger(Wei Wenhua,41) who filmed their confrontation with villager in Central China.
This has created a kind of flaming issue in Chinese Internet Chatrooms and forums condemning the cowardly act. And, this has alarmed the advocates of press freedom.
An international press freedom group, Reporters Without Borders, protested the killing.
"Wei is the first 'citizen journalist' to die in China because of what he was trying to film," the group said in a statement.
"He was beaten to death for doing something which is becoming more and more common and which was a way to expose law-enforcement officers who keep on overstepping their limits."
In the response, it is said government fired all those involved into the incidents and informed further investigations are running.
A scuffle developed when residents tried to prevent trucks from unloading the rubbish, local news(Xinhua) said. And, when Wei took out his cell phone to record the protest, more than 50 municipal inspectors turned on him, attacking him for five minutes. Wei was dead on arrival at a Tianmen hospital, the report said.
It is really a bad news that a blogger is brutally murdered by some government officials.
Few weeks ago, i wrote about Arabian blogger who's whereabouts is still unknown. What's going on, i've no idea. And, contemporary blogger from Nepal, Umesh Shrestha has written dynamic and revolutionary posts depicting real face of then autocratic regime of king. I worry for his well-being because, no one sees whats happening next and I just want to wish him GOOD LUCK and BE SAFE message. The reason for this message is because, bloggers are being targeted for some reasons and more often these days.

Build Your Life Over My Ashes
Life couldnt be harsher
and i have no reasons left to live
Fear of death exist no more
and i have no emotions left to feel
Break me into millon pieces
and burn my rotten soul
Or throw me into burning flames
throug a millon meter hole
Not that i am leaving you
feel me within
Build your life over my ashes
to forgive all my sins
My shadow is scary
because it reflects me
in my own eyes
your pain i can see
take my sahdow away from me
even though i will feel cold
poke my eyes till
i cant see where to hold
Not that i am leaving you
feel me within
Build your life over my ashes
to forgive all my sins
Stop my breathing
till i suffocate and die
And leave my corpse to rot and
to be eaten by the beast of the skies
Make my death painful
still no pain i will feel
Cut me into pices
so your wounds can heal
Not that i am leaving you
feel me within
Build your life over my ashes
to forgive all my sins

Sir Edmund Hillary died at the age of 88
Sir Edmund Hillary,88, was rushed to Auckland City Hospital(New Zealand) after a heart attack but passed away this morning at 9 am. He was the great adventurer and humanitarian who set the world's first ever record together with Nepalese Mr. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa to scale Earth's Highest Peak Mt. Everest(Sagarmatha) in 1953.
He ended the debate of who reached the summit first by revealing things in his book 'View from the Summit' where he'd written things which he publicly denied to say.
"I continued cutting a line of steps upwards," he wrote.

Nepal and Nepalese Sherpas will be always and always grateful towards Sir Edmund Hillary's contributions for whatever he had done good for them, for bringing Rays of hope to poor local people, and for everything he's done with virtuous intentions to uplift the social, economic and education standard of Sherpas. He opened the gate for other westerners. He'll be always remembered and I'm sure, Sherpas and Nepalese are in big grief to learn about this tragic incident, demise of great New Zealander hero Sir Edmund Hillary. May his soul Rest in Peace. New Improved Nokia N95 coming soon in America
Nokia N95, a strong contender to Apple iPhone, is coming in American markets with a bang. Nokia announced, the optimized version of the popular Nokia N95 will carry a feature to support 850/1900 MHz (HSDPA)high speed downlink packet access. With that, high-speed connectivity will be possible even on Mobile phone which equals or even exceeds the speed of home aDSL connection at some point. So, i would suggest people to try N95 since it has now 3.5G standard.
Some Asian and European markets already have N95 with 3G standard where they could use the video telephone services at ease. But with this new 3.5G protocol based Nokia N95 targetted for America's market, it seems obvious that there will be some impact very soon on mobile phone markets.
Features-wise, Nokia N95 comes bundled with 5 megapixel camera Carl Zeiss optics lens,one-click access to Flickr and Vox,8GB of internal flash memory, a 3D graphics processor with ability to play all latest N-Gage 3D games, GPS, and a 3 inch QVGA screen.
Note: HSDPA, is an abbreviated form of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access which is a new protocol for mobile telephone data tranmission. It is known as a 3.5G (G stands for generation) technology. Essentially, the standard will provide download speeds on a mobile phone equivalent to an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) line in a home, removing any limitations placed on the use of your phone by a slow connection.

Latest MSN messenger Worm/virus spreading like wildfire
What are MSN messenger Worms?
How to recognize them?
How to remove them?
How to prevent them?
What are MSN messenger Worms?
Any kind of worms/virus spreading through the use of Microsoft's IM client Windows Live Messenger/Msn Messenger, is MSN messenger worms/Virus. Normally what happens is if the system is infected with MSN messenger worms/virus, the only threat is that user's information is at risk. Previously, I've seen vicious worms which could transmit the data from the infected computer to worm writers. Besides, the threat level is low unless you don't share important informations across the MSN contacts.
How come latest Antivirus softwares are not detecting them?
Antivirus is not always the solution for variant nature of worms/virus which use IM networks(protocol). I'm writing variant nature, because, everytime, the worm writer puts the new name to it's worm. So, the worm gets new name more often and it goes undetected even by latest Antivirus softwares. After all, IM networks are made to share information and files.
How to recognize them?
-If all of a sudden, your friends(in IM) start asking you about the stuffs you never sent them. (Normally, they'll ask you 'have you sent me some links or photos' if they are smart enough, else they would click/open blindly)
-If you are feeling computer is getting slow(because, they do consume memory and they stay in memory, so they are memory resident)
NOTE: You may never know what's going on under your nose unless someone notifies you.
OR
if you are not infected but your friends whose computer is infected might send you with alluring texts or words without his consent.
"Hey, i've an interesting pictures IMAGE32131.jpg.com? to share with you" and you are given with the link to click
So.. normally, you would see different changes on these words with the same objective, i.e to send you some obnoxious looking(at least for me) file name but trying to deceive people by making it look like JPG(image) file.
Innocent user just sees/reads the IMAGE**.jpg and forgets about another extention IMAGE**.jpg.com or IMAGE**.jpg.exe. Those .com and .exe are the executable file extention, which means it runs automatically, as soon as you double click them thinking to see an image files.
NEVER EVER CLICK any file name ending with .COM or .EXE. They are made to run instantaneously.
I recently got strange message from my friend on MSN messenger and these WORM WRITERS have come up with unique but working formula.
Infected computer sent me asking "
Hey, i've new pictures on facebook.com ..blah blah"
and the name of sent file was "newfacebook.com"
Again, innocent user might think, oh it's from facebook.com and he/she might end up clicking the same .COM extention.
NEVER EVER CLICK any file name ending with .COM or .EXE. They are made to run instantaneously.
How to remove them?
Ummm.. This is the most important part. Couple of years back, during Windows 98 age, i had big fight with these kinds of worms and i always won. But this is Vista age and Vista is not at risk for the time being. And, there are various forms of similar worms existing for XP. Before you try to fight and eradicate this worm, i want you to load one weapon in your arsenal, just for now. Believe me, it's pretty easy.
That weapon is UNLOCKER.
Unlocker is freeware software to detach some files from the system which refuse to get deleted/moved/copied.

You need this because, to kill memory resident worm, it will help you. And why you need it, because, the worm will be deleted instantly. Some msn messenger worms are very stubborn and they don't want you to delete them. so, Unlocker is the solution.
Download from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/unlocker1.8.5.exe
Once you installed Unlocker, lets get to the business.
1. Run MSCONFIG
-Click 'Start' button --> Run and type 'msconfig' without quotes and hit 'Enter' key
-Now click the 'Startup' tab and carefully examine the suspicious file/item that's starting automatically, everytime your windows starts.
(Oh, lemme tell you something about MSCONFIG. This is small tool in Microsoft Windows which lets you control what to start and what not to start everytime windows runs. It has other things to do too but right now, you don't need to understand more than that.

And, finding suspicious file/item from the 'Startup' is pretty easy. Just see the file/item and try to check their 'LOCATION' and folder location by extending your gaze at the right side of MSCONFIG screen. You'll see where those files/items are stored, you'll also see where those programs are set in the REGISTRY of windows. )
-Once you think you found the suspicious file/item(it could be MsgSprd, Messenger, newfacebook,pic1324,Image etc), uncheck that, click apply and click OK.
Just Don't restart the PC. Click the option which says, you'll restart your PC later time.
2. Click Start-->Run--->type 'Regedit' and hit enter key.
(Regedit will launch the Registry and please don't play around with it beyond my guide. One single mistake/delete of registry key could result useless Operating System and it's hectic going back to safemode.. and so, but don't worry)
If you've noticed the suspicious file name, remember its few initials and on the registry screen, follow this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Under Run, check on the right hand side and see if there is the entry saved for those suspicious files. Delete the one or two which look suspicious entry(Right click the entry and select DELETE key).
Close the Windows Registry. (actually, from msconfig, we did the same thing, but we're making sure with this second step that, it would remove it's traces from registry too)
3. Now, press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC key together and you'll be brought up 'Windows Task Manager' screen
-click the Application tab and from there, 'end task' any suspecting file/item.. only if there is.. else let it be.
4. And, Delete/flush the TEMP folder. In windows XP/98, go to C:\windows\temp and delete all the files from there. If some files refuses to get deleted, use UNLOCKER.
Right click on the file which is refusing to get deleted and select UNLOCKER. From the next screen, select 'Unblock and delete' option and click okay. That's it.
5. Not necessary, but still clean your browser's CACHED temporary files. Delete all offline contents from IE and firefox.
6. Lastly, remove/uninstall your MSN messenger and download latest version from http://get.live.com/messenger/overview
How to prevent them?
After you restarted your computer, my recommendations to your online security are as follows:
Good Firewall: Firewall will block all the access to your computer from remote computer. Firewall gives you control what to choose and what not to choose. If you don't have firewall, you are not safe.
Download COMODO firewall. From there click 'Download Now' button and select the link for 32 bit if your processor is 32 bit or 64 bit, if your processor is 64 bit. Mostly it's 32 bit if your computer is more than a year old or so.
COMODO is super firewall till date i've tried. So, believe my words and download it. Rest follow their online instruction to master this application. It's plain easy
Efficient Antivirus: Antivirus should kill/remove all kind of virus and worms, must consume low memory and so. Look no further, download NOD32(for XP) and follow this link
Follow each and every steps how to successfully installing this antivirus. Regularly update antivirus
Smart Anti-spyware: Words of caution, i've seen bogus anti-Spywares on net. Stay away from them. And always use, SPYBOT - Search and Destroy
This antispyware will remove all the spywares from your computer, so give a thorough scan after you install it and yeah, regularly update it's database too.
With the COMBO of these three, you'll be at least, 99 percent safe on net and use your brain(be smart) for 1 more percent to be hundred percent safe.
NOTE: never accept suspcious files, never open enticing emails, never visit suspicious sites or never install anything from any webpage if you doubt. Happy surfing.

Advertlets.com redirecting to expired domain
As i was visiting my friend Vickie's blog today, i found that one of her country's major Blog Advertising Network is having some serious issues. That really bugged me. How come a big companies like them can play with their subscribers? and little research showed me that Advertlet(dot)com is one of the largest Blog Advertising Network of Malaysia and no doubt, most of it's marketers, subscribers were Malaysian Bloggers.
When some big IT companies have fate like this? it's the beginning of their hard days ahead. It is because People won't believe the service anymore.
Most of the bloggers were frustrated because, as soon as they tried to open their blogs, after few seconds it ended up being onto some expired domain's parking details. Something like below appeared to all of those blogs, who had Ad scripts of Advertlet installed on their blogs:
Why were they redirected to Advertlets main page? I'm not member of Advertlets and i don't know how their core worked but according to my understanding, if someone has to have PR quickly and illegally, we usually inject a small code on .htacess in the root which steals the PR traffic of big sites. Were Advertlets Ad scripts devious? I dunno, just my perspective.
Besides, this clearly shows that this company is totally irresponsible towards it's subscribers. And, it seemed to me that it all happened because, the company didn't renew their domain in time. Usually, what happens is we get informed before one month (or more) our domain expires. And, it seems, the owner of this company realized this issue only on eleventh hour which was of no use.
According to Josh Lim himself, founder of Advertlets, his site will be online soon but what about the prestige he was earning. Will bloggers believe him? This is the main question. Eventually, people worrying about their time and effort may join their login page as soon as site re-opens but what about new subscribers. Advertlets may know themselves.
Anyway, i'm no way related to Malaysia but the only thing that bothered me is when such big companies play irresponsible role? it's gonna have side effects on other evolving sites too and which is not good.
And according to Josh Lim, a temporary fix would be:
Editing your computer's host file manually:
1. Open up notepad.
2. Open this file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no file extension).
Add this line in after other lines: 202.46.116.100 advertlets.com
----------------------------
202.46.116.100 seems their unresolved DNS and with that above code, if you type advertlets.com on your individual computer, you'll be forwarded to those 32 bit IP address where their site might be working and up. (... but wait..i'm not sure.. oh i just checked, it's not working) You can try though and may need restarting your computer.
and founder of the company is claiming their site will be back soon. It will take at least 72 hours to resolve domain name to it's DNS number.
To check with this issue and related news, may be you'd like to visit the blog of Advertlets founder.

My assorted Microsoft Vista Tips and Tricks - Part I
My few months experience with Windows Vista is slowly turning me into veteran Vista user(kidding ;). These are my own assorted tips and tricks on Vista and my definition is not as professional as some great Vista Gurus. But, still, it'll be a bookmark for my ownself and for my readers, i hope so. And, I'll be continuing this Vista Tips(some of my readers are being inquisitive and wanted me to make review on Vista and that motivated me to write this post) now on, with series like Part I, Part II and so..
- How to get Windows XP feel and look on Vista
- Where the heck is 'Run' bar in VISTA???
- What is Aero and how to deal with application not compatible with Aero?
- Advanced ALT + TAB
- Did you know Vista Aero will run on Intel integrated graphics with minimum of 512 MB System RAM??
- Customize Start menu (change that Internet Browser and Email clients)
- How to tackle SLOW start Menu response.
- Why is VISTA's search bar so powerful?
How to get Windows XP feel and look on Vista
1. Right Click Start menu, choose Properties. Select the option titled CLASSIC START menu and then click OK.
2. Then, Start WIndows explorer, press Alt Key(by default Vista hides Menu bar), from Tools Menu select Folder Options and Select the option 'Use Windows Classic Folders' from the first Tab, click OK. Now, Vista should have old windows UI during file management.
Even "Start-->Programs" menu will give you the same old feel and look
Where the heck is 'Run' bar in VISTA???
I've been using 'RUN' bar on Windows XP to start my applications quickly. Some people think that the search bar above the start menu in the Vista, serves the same purpose. May be to some extent, but not exactly the way 'RUN' bar did(everytime I type C:\ search bar, instead of hitting Windows Explorer, it ran some programs).
If you don't want people to mess around with RUN command but only you, here is the nifty trick.
To enable 'RUN' bar in Vista, Click Start menu---> All Programs -->Accessories-->right click the "RUN" and select properties-->In the Shortcut tab, click CTRL + SHIFT + R on 'Shortcut key' field.
Now, on whenever you click "Ctrl+shift+R" combo, RUN bar shall appear at your service.
But, if you want your RUN command bar appear right on the option list,
-Right Click the Start Menu
-Choose Properties
-Click Customize button
-Scroll down the list and check 'Run Command' option
-Click OK two times.
NOW RUN command bar is there for you.
What is Aero and how to deal with application not compatible with Aero?
According to my understanding, Aero is nothing but the transparent glassy looks in User interface of Vista. When you hover your mouse over the Windows on Taskbar, it usually Pops up small preview, it even shows if video is playing inside that window on small thumbnail like preview. That's so cool at least for me. Similarly, beautiful cascading 3D ALT+TAB previews. All of these good looking effects on Vista is actually called the AERO. AERO effect on Vista is memory hungry and degrades system performance. For low end system, disabling AERO is a nice bet. Later on, i'll show you how quickly enable/disable Aero Effect without going to usual traditional ways to do same.
One more thing, when i got my hand on Vista for the first time, suddenly AERO effects disappeared after certain applications were run. And, it was hectic trying to get back the Aero effects again. It's because, some applications are not compatible with Vista's Aero. They'll do that whenever they're run. Either you uninstall such programs or follow my tutorial how to quickly regain Aero effect.
Just type following commands and AERO effects will be at your command.
You can use either search bar above Start Menu on Vista or can use the RUN command bar.
1.a) Command to Turn Aero ON: Rundll32 dwmApi #102
b) Hit Enter Key.
2.a) Command to Turn Aero OFF: Rundll32 dwmApi #104
b) Hit Enter Key.
Customizing the VISTA AERO
Right-click a blank area of the desktop, choose Properties, select "Windows Color and Appearance" from the "Personalize appearance and sound effects" control panel.
Now, select the colors available there or mix/create your own color to apply on AERO
Advanced ALT + TAB
Unlike Windows XP's alt+tab to switch the windows, Vista's ALT+TAB is highly advanced. In the Vista, when you click ALT+TAB, you'll see LARGE ICON to represent Windows you are cycling through. This is called 'Windows Flip'.
But, if you press 'WIN' key on the keyboard and 'tab' key, you'll be presented with huge 3D views of opened windows through which you could quickly check what is inside on which windows. This is called 'FLIP 3D'.

And, these work correctly only when AERO effect is on.
Do i need to mention pressing ALT + SHIFT + TAB will actually reverse the way of switching windows? Try ALT + TAB and ALT + SHIFT + TAB together, you'll know what i meant.
Did you know Vista Aero will run on Intel integrated graphics with minimum of 512 MB System RAM??
It's advertised that to run Vista Aero, one needs to have huge system requirements. That's not true. Even, motherboard with Intel integrated graphics could display the Aero effect on your system if you've minimum of 512 MB of system RAM. But don't go for too old system with 1 GB RAM onboard. I successfully run Vista Beta on 512 MB RAM many months ago.
Customize Start menu (change that Internet Browser and Email clients)
You must have Internet Explorer/Firefox(Internet) and OutLook Express/BAT(EMAIL) at the upper top left when you click the START button on VISTA. How to change/remove/replace them.
Right click the start menu, select properties and on the next dialog box, if you check at bottom of that dialog box, you'll see Internet And EMAIL check box available to you. You know what you've to do now, right? from the dropdown, select the choice of your Internet and Email application or
if you don't want them to show up at all, uncheck those check boxes. FINITO..
If you don't want to go Right-Click. blah blah blah.. you can direcly remove those Internet/Email from the start menu directly. Simple right-click on them and click 'Remove from the list'. thats it.
What if you want application other than Email and Internet? Simply drag your application of your choice and drop there. It'll be affixed there instantly.
Did you know that the Vista's start menu normally displays the most recently used programs on the list?
How to tackle SLOW start Menu response.
Has anyone of you felt that accessing folders on start menu is taking longer time to display the lists on it?? and cursing VISTA SUCKS... that's because, you don't know the workaround. It personally happened to me, i mean, when i installed some applications and tried to access those applications going through Start menu->>all programs-->> and when clicking on my choice of application's folder , it took ages to list the contents inside the those folders.
To overcome this problem and quickly optimize the Start menu response time,
Right click the Start Menu
Select Properties
Inside customize start menu box, Uncheck/Deselect 'Highlight Newly Installed programs '.
Now, go and try.. voila!!
Why is VISTA's search bar so powerful?
Vista's search bar(which is just above the start button after we clicked Start button) is very powerful because, it not only searches files/folder on your computer but it does much more than that. As i already wrote, it's partially, replacement to old window's RUN command bar too. You can actually access network folder, using the same search bar. Moreoever, you can search for your Internet bookmarks. If you haven't notice, try it now, trying something with any alphabet, and you shall see your favourite bookmarks anywhere. In addition to that you can actually, start your application smartly. Suppose we usually, go to Start menu-All programs-accessories-Notepad to start Notepad. But, type N on your searchbar and you must see the programs starting with N alphabet and i'm sure Notepad is at top. This not only applies to Notepad but all programs on your computer.

Stormy weekend!!!
Santa Cruz,Bay Area, Jan 4,07
Never knew that electricity goes here too. There was a weather forecast approximately 4 days before letting people know about the rainstorm weekend.
And, as predicted it was a very upsetting weather since yesterday. But, today, whole day has been even more stormy, windy and showering rain than other days. In addition to that, light went out. Right now, I'm writing these words in the dark evening amidst the dim glow of candle. I never thought that light would go ever, particularly in country's like the US. But, no super power can stand tall in front of mother Nature.
I've been listening to radio whole day and came to know that wind was so strong. It was recorded 80 mph. It was also reported flooding, tree fall downs in other parts of the bay area from the place where I lived. Lots of highways are closed. Traffic obstructed and so. News also said 220,000 houses are out of power and I know life would halt here without electricity. Right now, I'm thinking how to manage cooking and I'm not even sure when the Power would come. Everything is uncertain for the time being.
Somehow I managed to take a short clip of the day. Just wanted to share with my readers.
And, as I was listening to local Radio station in the evening covering disaster stories,i knew that it's one of the biggest storm of decades recorded ever since 1956.
PS: Finally, power came and am posting these words. Thanks lord!!! Read more It's Interesting!

Evolution of Entertainment Era (EEE)
As a school going kid, i was fascinated by video games, entertainment gizmos like 8 bit handheld portable games, side scrolling animation cartoons, and so. Now, I'm just recalling the advent of those entertainment devices/technologies in a chronological manner. I'm being nostalgic about writing for those days gaming devices and technology.
The Coleco Colecovision console, released in 1982, was as powerful as the most powerful PCs at that time. The Sega Genesis released as MegaDrive in Japan in 1988, marked Sega's entry into the Video gae market. Did you know that Sega released Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991 as a direct response to Nintendo's Super NES gaming System? Nintendo's release in 1993 of the Famicom, in Japan, marked the second age of home video games and the start of Nintendo's Dominance in the gaming world.
In 1950, mathematician Alan Turing wrote the first chess program. In 1952, Alick Glennie, who wrote the first compiler, defeated Alan Turing's chess program, Turbo Champ. He was the first person to beat a computer program at chess.Alex Bernstein wrote a chess program in 1957 for an IBM 704, which could do 42000 instructions per second and used 70k of memory. It was the first 'proper' chess playing program. In 1962, Alan Kotok wrote the first MIT chess Program for his B.S. thesis project. He was assisted by John McCarthy of Stanford. In 1970, the first all-computer championship was held in New York and won by CHESS 3.0(CDC 6400), a program written by Slate, Atkin and Grlen at Northwestern University. On November 22, 1996 a USSR chess programme began a correspondence match with he Kotok-McCarthy MIT chess program. The match lasted 9 months and was won by the Soviet computer.
In 1951, Charles Ginsburg, known as the father of the Video cassette recorder, led a research team at Ampex corporation in developing the first practical videotape recorder. The first VCR(Video Cassette Recorder) was made in 1956 and was the size of piano. The first video taped material on a TV show was "Douglas Edwards and the News", broad-cast on CBS on NOvember 30, 1956. The first commercial blank videotape was offered by #M corp. in 1957. It was priced at $307 per reel. In 1963, Philips demonstrated its first'Compact Audio Cassette' using BASF 1/8-inch tape. The mass production of compact audio cassettes began in 1965 in Hanover, Germany, as did commercial sales of pre-recorded music cassettes, known as music cassettes.
Akio Morita along with Masaru lbuka founded the TOkyo Engineering Corporation in 1946. This was later renamed Sony. Sony's name takes from the Latin word 'sonus', meaning sound, and the English word 'Sunny'. Akio Morita, Masaru lbuka and Kozo Ohsone invented the portable 'Sony Walkman' audio cassette player. It was released in 1979. 'Walkman','Pressman', 'watchman', and 'Discman' are SOny trademarks. Sony's first foray into the gaming market in 1988, when it embarked on a deal with Nintendo to develop a CD-ROM drive for the Super NES. Sony acquired Psygnosis, a relatively unknown European developer, for $ 48 million. It was renamed Sony Interactive Entertainment, and is responsible for some of the Playstation's best games, including Wipeout and Dsetruction Derby. According to a survey in May 2000, one out of every four house hold in the Untied Staes had a Playstation.
In 1985, Sony and Philips produced the standard for CD-ROM disks, which would use the same laser technology as the audio CD.
The still video or digital camera was first demonstrated in 1981. It used a fast-rotating magnetic disc two inches in diameter and recorded on it upto 50 images formed in a solid-state device in the camera. In 1988, CD sales surpassed LP sales for the first time, leaving the CD and the audio cassette as the two dominant consumer formats.
On August 6, 1998, the first HDTV set went on sale on safe for $ 5,499 to the public in San Diego. It was a 56-inch Panasonic set that was developed at the company's research and development centre in San Diego, and manufactured in Tijuana.
The IMAX system has its roots in the EXPO'67 in Montreal. A small group of Canadian filmmakers and entrepreneurs-Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor and Robert Kerr-decided to design a new system using a single, powerful projector, rather than the cumbersome multiple projectors used at the time. The IMAX dome, then called Omnimax, debuted a the Reuben H FleetSpace Theatre in San Diego, California, in 1973. Disney released Fatasia 2000 in the IMAX film format with 6-channel digital sound on Januaory 1, 2000.
The first HD car radio was sold on January 5,2004 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. From March 6, 1999, HBO began HDTV satellite movie broadcasts, starting with "US Marshals" at 8 pm. In 1998, The Last Broadcast, a film by Stefan Avalos and Lance Weiler, premiered as "the first desktop feature film", produced and exhibited digitally, co-sponsored by Texas instruments using its DLP digital cinema projector.
In November 1997, San Diego's MP3.com was founded by Michael Robertson with 3000 songs available for free download. In the next 12 months, it became the #1 music site on the Internet with 3 million hits monthly.
DVD players were introduced in Japan in 1996 and later in the US in 1997. By 2003, in the US DVD rentals increased 51.2% and VHS rental dropped 29% from the previous year; DVD sales increased 42.2% to $12.1 billion, and VHS sales dropped 34.8% to$2.4 billion, accoridng to Video Store Magazine.
In 1992, the use of computer-generated graphics in movies took a step forward with Disney's release of 'Tron'.Dick Tracy, released June 15, 1990 was the first 35mm feature film distribute with a digital soundtrack by Cinema Digital Souns (CDS), developed by East man Kodak and Optical Radiation Corp.
In the stop- motion kind of animation, one must move each joint of each character for every frame, which means yo need to stop the camera and move anything that is moving for every frame. The biggest drawback of this kind of animation is that it is very time consuming. The longest example of stop-motin animation was The Nightmare Before Christmas, directed by Henry Selick. This movie lasted for 74 minutes, which required a total of 106560 frames! Each of these had to be filmed individually. The characters in the movie were puppets made of foam rubber. Producing the entire movie required a total of 300 puppets for the 74 roles.
In 1993, Jurassic Park released on May 30 as the first film with DTS sound, developed by Terry Beard, founder of Digital Theatre Systems in Westalke Village, CA partly owned by steven spielberg and Universal Pictures. This digital sound film format records six tracks on separate CD-ROM disks, synchronised by an optical time code track recorded on the film, co-existing with a backup optical sound track similar to Dolby stereo. MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) develops standards for digital video and digital audio compression. It operates under the auspices of the Internatinal Organisation for Standardization (ISO).
In 1986, Steve Jobs purchased the computer graphics division of Lucas Films Ltd for $10 million, and established it as an independent company 'Pixar'. In 1995, amidst great fanfare, Pixar Animation Studios and Disney released the first full-lenght computer-generated film, Toy Story. Toy Story director John Lasseter had won an academy award for a previous computer-generated short film, Tiny Toy.
The sci-fi flick Gog(1954), in which a nuclear 'brain' takes over a secret laboratory, was the first film to feature a computer the main character in movie.
The first true digital camera for the consumer was introduced to the world in 1990. It was the Dycam MdelI, and it produced black and white photos at a resolution of 320x240 pixels. The camera was capable of storing 32 compressed images on 1 MB of built-in RAM. The images could be downloaded, suing a cable, to a PC or a Mac.
The world's first portable video recording system, the DV-2400 Video Rover was launched by Sony in 1967. It filmed in B&W only, and required a separate unit for play back. It was a professional level digital camcorder that had the ability to take freeze-frame pictures, and not a still digital camera.
In 1992, Sharp , in its quest to make filming easier , introduced the first colour LCD screen, so videographers could see the display on a screen, with out having to squint through a viewfinder. Today, this is standard feature on all camcorders.

How do you eat Oreo Cookies, describes most about YOU
Psychologists have discovered that the manner in which people eat Oreo cookies provides great insight into their personalities. Choose which method best describes your favorite method of eating Oreos:
1. The whole thing all at once.
2. One bite at a time
3. Slow and methodical nibbles examining the results of each bite afterwards.
4. In little feverous nibbles.
5. Dunked in some liquid (milk, coffee...).
6. Twisted apart, the inside, then the cookie.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and toss the cookie.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them.
10.I don't have a favorite way because I don't like Oreos.
Your Personality:
1. The whole thing:
This means you consume life with abandon, you are fun to be with, exciting, carefree with some hint of recklessness. You are totally irresponsible. No one should trust you with his or her children.
2. One bite at a time:
You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their Oreos this very same way. Just like them, you lack imagination, but that's okay, not to worry, you're normal.
3. Slow and Methodical:
You follow the rules. You're very tidy and orderly. You're very meticulous in every detail with every thing you do to the point of being anal retentive and irritating to others. Stay out of the fast lane if you're only going to go the speed limit.
4. Feverous Nibbles:
Your boss likes you because you get your work done quickly. You always have a million things to do and never enough time to do them. Mental breakdowns and suicides run in your family. Valium and Ritalin would do you good.
5. Dunked:
Every one likes you because you are always up beat. You like to sugar coat unpleasant experiences and rationalize bad situations into good ones. You are in total denial about the shambles you call a life. You have a propensity towards narcotic addiction.
6. Twisted apart, the inside, and then the cookie:
You have a highly curious nature. You take pleasure in breaking things apart to find out how they work, though not always able to put them back together, so you destroy all the evidence of your activities. You deny your involvement when things go wrong. You are a compulsive liar and exhibit deviant, if not criminal, behavior.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and then toss the cookie:
You are good at business and take risk that pay off. You take what you want and throw the rest away. You are greedy, selfish, mean, and lack feelings for others. You should be ashamed of yourself. But that's ok, you don't care, you got yours.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside:
You enjoy pain.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them:
Stay away from small furry animals and seek professional medical help - immediately.
10. I don't have a favorite way, I don't like Oreos:
You probably come from a rich family, and like to wear nice things, and go to upscale restaurants. You are particular and fussy about the things you buy, own, and wear. Things have to be just right. You like to be pampered. You are a prissy.
