Somewhere on my other blog, I tried to describe a blog as , "Blogs are internet-based journals or simple abbreviated form of web-log. Some blogs are private only viewable to selected readers, mine is public. Anyone can read or more importantly register and contribute their own ideas and views."
Now, if you have cared to read this comic above, then you might have guessed, what am I writing about. It's written somewhere that every 3 seconds, a new blog comes into existence to this jumbled up wired world, and at the same ratio, blog dies too. So, it's no more a big deal to setup a blog. Looking at the comic strip above, is that the real intention of blogging?? Sad but true, bloggers have come up with this different idea. They're sort of deliberately writing things against companies which could possibly hinder the reputation and growth too. These people are not blogging in true sense, even if they are making a blog post, they are writing contents which are driven by their personal grudge and vengeance. If you've come across certain blogs, which writes bad things, only bad things about companies, would you easily believe them?
Are you a disoriented blogger??
I've come across couple of bloggers within these few days, whose motivation is to destroy the reputation of some people, place and firm. Bloggers most likely blog about what they like, even if they don't like things and end up criticizing, they maintain the level and keep themselves in a way where their criticism looks not like criticism but some deep analysis. If I read content like that, I would not have second thought at all. But when I read a post like " this company sucks because it gave me a damn care, their support sucks, they didn't pay me my due money, blah blah ". I would not care a bit about what that blog is writing about. I'm not there to read their temperaments which looks like some arrogant child complaining about. I usually visit blogs to read bloggers experience and how they are living up their life. Blogging is all about that and it really excites me to read them.
Goodwill blogging
Sometimes, I think people are misinterpreting blogging. I don't know if there are certain blogging ethics but certainly I do believe it's all about goodwill. I respect bloggers who has no devious intention to demoralize people or any firm's reputation. I respect bloggers who gives ideas and suggestions to help out of any awkward situations. These bloggers who look like they are made for help. These are the people whom I'd like to say bloggers driven by true spirit of blogging ethics.
Pay It Forward
People have become so self-centered that they are just thinking about themselves. We must come out of it. Share some love instead. Write good words about people, places and things. Your good words could bring good fortunes to others. Writing bad words, insulting others is no way going to make you feel good and proud. First lets try to find a way around, if not there is always an alternate ways.
Thanks a lot for reading my personal rants.

The Dial up Place - Why to opt for Dial up connection?
Few days ago, I wrote a post about how to figure out Internet Speed. I kind of wrote nice things about high speed broadband connection. But there are people who still use Dial-up. My intention was in no way to discourage the use of dial-up. Dial-up still rocks and it is still serving the internet users. One of my blogger friend Mike wrote me that he lives somewhere in NewYork and he still uses Dial-up. That was the moment, I felt dial-up is still the viable option for many. It has nothing to do with how much you can afford or not. It's the service that matters you, it's the moment when the service is available to you or not, that matters you. And, so when broadband service providers don't care much about the people living in rural areas, other alternatives work and dial up internet providers play important role in such cases.
Obviously, broadband connection is the trend but what if you are using internet just for an email and you spend just 10-15 minutes a day online to check some news and so. Is it a wise decision to spend $40-$50 per month for broadband service when you can have the same purpose served with another cheaper alternative like dial-up internet connection for nearly $5-$6 a month?
The reasons you should opt for dial-up:
-when there is no broadband service around
-when you don't use internet much but spend mere 10-15 minutes a day to check email and some news
-when you want to have alternative connection, just in case your another connections give up at times due to uncertain technical problems,
I found a site known as 'The Dial Up Place' which connects all the dial up internet providers in one place and you can actually have a choice to make selection from those service providers.
AOL, AT&T, BasicISP.net, Concentric, Copper.net, Earthlink, NetZero/Juno, PeoplePC,Toast.net are some of the dial up internet providers listed on that site and providing great services to consumers. Dial-up is not yet obsolete. It dawned on me when my friend Mike told me he is still using Dial Up connection.
The layout of the site didn't impress me much but their intention and the cause would surely sparks the interests of anyone to use dial up internet.

SPOCK.com - Search People Online
Searching people online for information was a messed up experience and irrevelant results were the most which annoyed me. May be lots of other also have felt that way. This was unless I found Spock.
Spock is a free people search engine. Search people by name and email, location or even by tag, it's one easy task. In addition to that, to take how it looks and feels, I personally signed up an account and found couple of things which amazed me. The results were relevant, accurate and broad. It's not just like another search engine on people which is someway limited to certain area and so. I made couple of searches of my choice and it gave me the precise information that I've been looking for.
Thinking google and wiki would do that job would be lamest assumption because, what google does is indexing pages based on keywords, tops the result based on hits and wiki covers the details about only and only popular people and things. You try writing a wiki on you or your project which is not popular, your wiki will be deleted within few seconds. Reason?? It's because you are not popular. They are not for all. Spock is for everyone like you and me and it's not limited to certain region or country. One can virtually find old friends, relatives and related information at it's search results which can make anyone forget about other search engines. The uniqueness of this people search engine is it's preciseness and organization of the information. One will get what he's looking for, not a junk information at all. On top of that, one can search people by
name, email, location or even by tag. Spock.com - A Great Place for Search
Searches made on Social network sites to find people are limited to it's only database, Spock is not. Spock goes beyond that limit. The beauty of this engine is the tags which show up on results which help you decide quickly if that is the information you are sought after.
Personally, helped me with the searches I made. I searched on 'Prachanda' and it gave me the overall idea of who he's with the help of tags. Similarly, I searched on my favorite singer 'Elvis Presley' and believe me, I found something new about him and his family. No more bloated information, it gives us what we need to know quickly. Elsewhere, one has to go through painful revision of informations he/she is reading.
If you think your information is not listed(which is rare) or needs to be corrected, help yourself, sign up, make a quick edit, upload one of your best pictures and rest is with them. Your excellent profile would be there for world to see whoever make searches on your name or information.

What is your Internet Connection Type??
Today, me and my brother had little discussion about Internet and I enjoyed that because, it's after long time, could be years that he came up with a question which really made feel 'wow,.. this is discussion'.
Well, He asked me :
'What is our Internet speed?'
and
'Why your laptop has slow internet connection than the desktop I sit on?'
Before, I answered those questions straight away, I thought it's time to act like GURU(ehehe, just kidding) and give him some divine knowledge on how Internet works. Though I'm not an Internet Guru, I do have basic understanding on those things and I ended up giving him all the things that he needed to know.
I started with, 'How many types of connections are available?' and then I went on like:
There are actually from slow to high speed internet connection depending upon the service providers and technology being used and these days service providers have one name, 'Broadband' but categorically, we can divide these connections based on functionality(note that, i'm writing functionality) in following ways:
Dialup Internet
Cable Internet
DSL Internet
Satellite Internet
Dialup Internet are based on Telephone lines and ISP usually wants us to dial their designated number, we dial them and we get connected to wired world. The download/upload is terribly slow as compared to today's modern world internet connectivity. May be at their times, they were HERO but now, they're obsolete because of their slow speed. In my country Nepal(may be other places too), it's still an expensive thing and in use because, Nepalese end up being charged for double time(one for telephone usage and one for internet bill) but what I learned here is, USA companies are giving dialup for free. So, it's the cheapest but slowest means of internet connectivity over here. Their speed never exceeded 56.Kbps(theoritically). So, you are online, when you dial the ISP number and get connected once verified.
Cable Internet are normally based on the cable wires which local Cable TV operator provides. You can either subscribe to their TV package and can get Internet service for added supplementary price or You can just subscribe to them for Internet service(only in USA, I learned that, But, In Nepal when I was there, one has to have TV channel and then only Internet service). Speed is quite broad than dial-up, so, it falls under broadband connection. Precisely, the burstable speed could go upto 4 Mbps from 1 Mbps for download, and for upload umm may be 512 Kbps(theoritically). And, the speed often fluctuates, you know. so not a quite stable connection.
DSL Internet are something which amaze me from time to time. These are the fastest connection available to home users to my understanding(forget fibre optics for now). The source of this type of connection is still phone line but the service provider has special device or modem called DSL modem which maximizes the throughput of normal telephone line and what I believed is it has the most stable internet connection, it never fluctuates. I'm writing these words from this very connection and when people asks me 'hey what's your download speed', I usually answer them with 'ahh. it's 160KBps(please note KB not Kb) you know'. I could've said it's got 3 Mbps standard DSL speed/bandwidth(it's the thickness of the speed, thicker the bandwidth, higher the speed) but they would wrong me calculating in their mind '3 MEGA BYTES PER SECOND??'. So, i usually tell them the converted figures( I'll show you how to convert those figures)
Satellite Internet, these are the Internet I've seen here in some places. People over here have strange fantasies to live up in the rocky mountains and they still have internet connection, that's because, they're rich and where no cable or line goes, there sits Dish Antenna and draws internet off the source in the sky or from some tower located somewhere else(may be that's radio.. i may be wrong). I don't have much experience with this thing, just read about it. It's every more theoretical for me :)
So, these are the types of internet based upon the functionality. You might have read differently based on different things like wired/wireless/radio/blah blah types of internet.
And, I answered my brother, our internet speed is 3Mbps(actually, they have 6Mbps plan recently launched too but, it's too expensive for now) which calculates to some 360KBps download in real time.
He replied annoyingly,"what 360KBps and 3Mbps, I'm not getting it?"
"Look, when we apply for service, we gotta know how much speed we're applying for and those company guys would tell you, it's 3Mbps/6Mbps, and you've to make choice whether you understand or not, but even a donkey would figure out that higher is better. So, 3Mbps is the standard for denoting internet speed. Do you remember 56.6Kbps modem??" I gently told him.
He nodded in agreement, " Oh yeah, right!! so, we've come this far.. wow.. it's 3Mbps, not mere 56.6Kbps or 14.4Kbps"
"Yes,now you got that in your head, that's why these speeds are termed as BROADBAND connectivity",I replied back with a laugh.
After a while thinking, he asked me another question,"But how did you calculated 3Mbps to around 360KBps?"
"bro, you and I went to same school, lemme refresh you.
Computer and everything about computer is Digital. Data flows in digital format always okie?. And with digital , it's always 0 and 1. These are the basic norms used in Digital Era. 0 or 1 comprises one 'bit' okie? and 8 bit equals 1 byte.
(i wrote in paper and showed him with something like below to refresh his memory)
0,1=1 bit
8 bit= 1 byte
1024 byte= 1 KB(kiloByte)
1024 KB= 1 MB(MegaBytes)
so, 1KB(KiloByte) and 1Kb(KiloBit) are two different things.
Therefore, if it's 56.6 Kbps, then 56.6 x 1000 = 56,000 bits(Kilo normally represents 1000 or you can write 1024, no problem)
Let's find it's actually download speed; lets divide 56,000 bits by 8 to find it's BYTE value.
so, 56,000/8 = 7075 Bytes
and 7075/1024 = 6.9 KBps(KiloBytes per seconds)
So, see?? 56.6 Kbps modem will give you the download speed off 6.9KBps, well theoritically, in reality you may be half of the speed, may be 3 KBps or even less in worst case. This is how I calculate the speed, okie?"
After I finished writing/talking, he went on calculating his own,"Okie, if so, I want to calculate 3Mbps myself, thanks for the refreshment.
(he calculated something like below)
3Mbps= 3 x 1000 x 1000 = 3,000,000(multiplying by two 1000 because, it's in MEGA) bits
and,
3,000,000/8 = 375,000 bytes
(lets convert it to KiloBytes)
375,000/1024 = 366.2 KiloBytes
So, 3Mbps would give you 366.2 KiloBytes of download speed, precisely. WOW, "
I stopped him in the middle,"Eventhough, it's theoritically correct speed, but usually you get half of it's speed due to many reasons like congestion in network, data compression taking place in real time and so.( I don't think he understood them all but I made him clear, it's not the speed we get as he calculated). Therefore, even if it says 366.2 KB of download speed, you'll get half or less of it. TRY IT, DOWNLOAD SOMETHING HUGE."
What else, he went on downloading one Game setup file and the status was showing between, 160KBps-170KBps on 3Mbps broadband connection. He thought I was right. It should've been downloading at 360KBps but as I wrote before, it's only in theory. In reality it's different.
He seemed quite satisfied with my answers and next question was like why the speed on your laptop is not same as in this desktop.
I thought for a while, tried to remember all those jargons and terms, I've learned somewhere and replied," umm, my laptop is not connected on wire, it's wireless and do you know how's the standard of wireless connectivity measured?"
He said,"No.."
Thinking for a while, I replied,"well, they've standard like 802.11a,802.11b,802.11g and so. My laptop's inbuilt Aetheros Wireless adapter uses 802.11g Wireless standard and notice the alphabet at the end, like 'a', 'b' and 'g'.(in Layman's term) Higher the alphabet, higher the speed and features. So, 802.11g wireless connects at maximum speed of 54Mbps."
I showed him rightclicking on my desktop's LAN connection icon(two small computer icon blinking) which stated as 100Mbps as connection status. Then, I showed him, my laptops connection status which was showing me 54Mbps.
Lastly, " this desktop is connected on wire to the router and my laptop is not. If this desktop would have connected to router through wireless adaptor, it would have also 54Mbps as connection status. But since, this is wired to router, it gets the maximum speed and my wireless laptop gets just half of the network speed of my desktop. That's it."
He checked the download speed on my laptop and it was like 70KBps to 90KBps, which is not bad :)
-end of conversation-
I've used 6KBps speed at my home in Nepal, and here I'm using over 160 KBps which is far better and I can watch movies, streaming contents without problem :)
If you've similar connection, you can actually, estimate the download time. Mostly, you can download 100MB files and calculate the time it takes to download Or, you figure out your Connection type, calculate it's download speed and before you download something, why not calculate how much time it's going to take. It's fun you know.. DO IT NOW!!! ;)
PS:If you've any more to add to this conversation with me and my brother, please.. all the comments and constructive criticisms are most welcomed.

Israeli Restaurants using digitial e-menu
The following video shows that the restaurant in Israel is using a digital form of menu, called e-menu technology. This system is very innovative, new and looks quite convincing.
It seems, touch screen technology is going to hit big screen soon. Till date it's just limited to pocket screen and some low sized monitors attached to big machines. Similar technology from Microsoft called Surface is making debut this year too, sounds pretty convincing.

WayBack Machine is archive.org
I'm kind of overwhelmed by the broader technologies ever being introduced every single moment. Sometimes, I feel it's too much and while relaxing, when I gaze at my empty ceiling, I ponder upon the wonderful feelings of those days when everything was so new, so simple, when Internet was just about to get explode. Back in those days, when Internet is all about only and only HTML. It was great attempt to show my friends how I linked a mere page to another page full with unstructured display of images. Everything was so simple yet so hard to learn. Things are different now. Everything is dynamic, innumerous technologies are there to back today's connected world. See the pics below, that's how Yahoo looked exactly in the month of Nov, 1996. Yahoo had it's user database and interface all in html language. No complex scripts at all.
The objective of this post is to discuss about one site which is taking snapshots of history in digital formats. The above snapshots that I 'PRTSC' - PrintScreened is from http://www.archive.org
While we are being accustomed to newer technology everyday, archive.org has been silently taking snapshots of all of those moments, events. I could actually find the historic reposits of all kind of data which is over 40-50 years old. Those data could be of immense value to researchers, historians, students, scholars and equally to all those enthusiasts who wonder how the world looked back then in those days but all in digital formats.
Precisely, archive.org has one section out of many which is called "Way Back Machine" where you input some URL of today's popular sites and you can check actually, how it looked way back then. That's how I got above figure 'Yahoo in Nov,1996'. Pretty amusing right?? If you want to know why it's way back machine, please refer this wiki.
So, what you can do with this Way Back Machine? You can learn about how these big corporate has come to this stage and how they looked back on those days. You can view the source code and study them. It's kind of interesting thing you know? I spent around 4 hours yesterday to find myself about How great it is to know about history.
If you are thinking it's all about technology stuff, please change your mind. Of course, it's the technology that archive.org is built upon and that technology will tell you the history of entire mankind, you can learn for free, you can download free softwares(which is paid back then and costly),download historic games, listen to lectures from reputed professors, lots of study materials, educational stuffs and more. It's all about learning new things from the history. Old is always gold. We've a base, a foundation and that base we can actually find in archive.org.
According to site itself:
"The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library, with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages in our collections. "
Please if you find something interesting in it, let me know too. It's so huge that I can't actually get all the useful stuffs by my own.
Thank you for reading.

Home Remedy Treatments for Sore Throat
Try heading a a sore throat off at the pass at the onset of a cold. Trying to avoid getting a sore throat may help lessen its effect or prevent it entirely. Try the following home remedies to keep a sore throat at bay:
Keep your nasal passages clear. Doctors agree that two of the most common causes of sore-throat pain are postnasal drip and a dry throat that results from sleeping with your mouth open when your nasal passages are blocked. Decongestants, especially those containing pseudoephedrine (read package labels), may be helpful in stopping the flow; follow package directions carefully. Using saline nasal spray can help make breathing easier promptly though temporarily, and it's probably worth investing in a humidifier to run in your bedroom at night.
Rest and take it easy. Common sense dictates staying in bed or at least resting when a sore throat's got you down. Taking it easy leaves more energy to fight the infection.
If your sore throat doesn't require medical attention, it may be helped by a home remedy, using products such as mouthwash or throat spray or kitchen items such as tea. Try the suggestions below to relieve throat pain.
Home Remedies from the Kitchen
Gargle raspberry tea. Raspberry leaf tea can make a great gargle. (To make, pour 1 cup boiling water over 2 teaspoons dried leaves. Steep for ten minutes, then strain. Allow to cool.) If you also have a fever, the gargle can be used as a fever-reducing drink, too. Do not drink any liquid you have used as a gargle.
Drink cider vinegar. This sore throat cure is found in several different remedies. Here are a few of the more popular ones:
* For sipping: Mix 1 tablespoon each of honey and cider vinegar in 1 cup warm water.
* For gargling: You'll need 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup cider vinegar, and 1 cup warm water. Dissolve the salt in the vinegar, then mix in the water. Gargle every 15 minutes as necessary.
Make a horseradish cocktail. Try this Russian sore-throat cure. Combine 1 tablespoon pure horseradish or horseradish root with 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon ground cloves. Mix in a glass of warm water and drink slowly.
Sip lemon juice. Mix 1 tablespoon each of honey and lemon juice in 1 cup warm water. Sip this mixture.
Drink lime juice. Combine 1 spoonful with a spoonful of honey and take as often as needed for a sore throat.
Gargle with warm salt water. If you can gargle without gagging, make a saline solution by adding 1/2 teaspoon salt to a cup of very warm water. Yes, when your mother told you to gargle with salt water, she knew what she was talking about. It cuts phlegm and reduces inflammation. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon salt in 1/2 cup warm water, and gargle every three to four hours.
Eat a juice bar. This is cold and soothing to a hot throat. Don't suck, though. Sucking may irritate the throat even more. Simply let small pieces melt in your mouth.
Drink hot liquids. Especially if you're not good at gargling, drink hot fluids, such as coffee, tea, or hot lemonade. Coating the tissue in your throat with warm liquid provides a benefit similar to applying hot packs to infected skin. (And sipping hot tea is more pleasant than trying to swallow a hot pack.)
Suck on hard candy. Think of a sore throat as an excuse to indulge your sweet tooth, since some doctors say that sugar can help soothe a sore throat, as well as the ticklish cough that may come with it. If nothing else, sucking on hard candy -- in the sugar-free variety -- can help keep your mouth and throat moist, which will make you feel more comfortable.
Steam it out. One old-fashioned remedy for a cold or sore throat is a steam tent -- sitting with your face over a bowl of steaming hot water and your head covered with a towel to keep the steam in. Adding 1 to 2 drops eucalyptus oil can be soothing. While it's easy to dismiss such a simple measure as an old wives' tale, several scientific studies have shown that steaming can actually shorten the duration of a throat infection.
Keep the fluids coming. Drink as much fluid as possible -- at least eight to ten 8-ounce glasses per day. Keeping your throat well lubricated with soothing liquids can prevent it from becoming dry and irritated and may even help banish the infection faster.
Home Remedies from the Spice Rack
Suck on garlic. This Amish remedy can treat or prevent sore throats. Peel a fresh clove, slice it in half, and place 1 piece in each cheek. Suck on the garlic like a cough drop. Occasionally, crush your teeth against the garlic, not to bite it in half, but to release its allicin, a chemical that can kill the bacteria that causes strep.
Make a marjoram drink. Make a soothing tea with a spoonful of marjoram steeped in a cup of boiling water for ten minutes. Strain, then sweeten to taste with honey.
Gargle with sage. This curative herb is a great sore-throat gargle. Mix 1 teaspoon in 1 cup boiling water. Steep for ten minutes, then strain. Add 1 teaspoon each cider vinegar and honey, then gargle four times a day.
Gargle turmeric. Try this gargle to calm a cranky throat. Mix together 1 cup hot water, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Gargle with the mixture twice a day. If you're not good with the gargle, mix 1/2 teaspoon turmeric in 1 cup hot milk and drink. Turmeric stains clothing, so be careful when mixing and gargling.
Home Remedies from the Medicine Cabinet
Gargle with Listerine. Another good gargling fluid is Listerine mouthwash. If you share the product with anyone else in your household, don't drink straight from the bottle; instead, pour a small amount into a cup (and don't share that, either).
Take an analgesic. Plain old aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen can do wonders for sore-throat pain. However, aspirin should not be given to children under the age of 19 because of the risk of Reye's syndrome, a potentially fatal condition. Pregnant and nursing women should check with their doctor before taking any medication. For a list of precautions to take when using over-the-counter analgesics, click here.
Spray it. Analgesic sprays, such as Chloraseptic, may be effective in temporarily relieving sore-throat pain. The only problem is that the effect doesn't last long. You may have to spray several times an hour. However, the sprays won't harm you and may take the edge off an extremely painful throat.
Also, when treating a sore throat, nix the colas and scratchy foods, such as chips and pretzels. They'll irritate an already irritated throat -- which hopefully one of the above home remedies will cure!

Digital Framez : Marketplace of Digital photo frames
Did you know or have you heard of something like Digital Photo Frame existed ever? If you are techie by instinct, then may be you've heard of them or may be couple of them is in your room but if not, you can buy one from
http://www.digitalframez.com.au/

What is Digital Photo Frame? Simple, it's much more dynamic and brilliant than conventional photo frame. You can have thousands of photos stored in memory card, have them display in regular intervals or customize them when to display or not. It's all upon you. You are the decision maker.
If you love taking pictures and tired of printing them and enclosing them inside normal photo frame, then you'd have noticed how much time and money it would take. If you want to put new photo on the frame, consider the manual effort and printing charge everytime you do so.
These days, people are almost using everything digital. Lets say, old SLR manual cameras are superseded by more easy and useful Digital cameras. Everyone is using digital camera. Why to bother even going to photo lab, develop the roll and print them? It's too much time being wasted. With digital, you can just print photos off your home printer or from anywhere easily. But, with this Digital Picture Frame, You don't even need to print. You can in fact just use that Memory Card of your Camera and display photos instantaneously in your Digital photo frame. You can use any memory cards that you've. Isn't that cool? Moreover, you can display Video with sounds too, and cool background music while photo slide show continues. With that said, it has built-in speakers too. You can have conventional wooden frame or any other frames too but what the most intriguing part is,it's total digital, time saver and money saver too.
From this site: http://www.digitalframez.com.au/
If you buy digital photo frame of upto 10 inch in size, you're eligible of getting free 256 MB SD memory card. It's not like just 10 inch, but they've other sizes of frames available too. But to qualify for free 256 MB SD memory card, you've to at least buy 10 inch digital photo frame. If you are thinking 256 MB is too low for storing photos, think once, do you want more than 20,000 photos on Gigabytes of storage?? How would you handle such large amount of photos to display on your digital photo frame? But it's based upon your choice. For me, 256 MB is perfect and I don't want thousands of pictures to select and display from. If you want to have Gigabytes of MemoryCard, no problem either. It's quite flexible on that purpose.
Technically, digital photo frames uses LCD technology but manufacturers have incorporated extra-bright technology in it to make it look and feel like real photo frame. I'm sure your friends/families would be surprised to see this innovative thing. If you love someone, this could be perfect gift to give too.
I also found these guys are shipping worldwide. It accepts major credit cards. On top of that, you're eligible for warranty of the product and the softwares they offer for free to manipulate your digital images in no time.

What happens when people take Technology for Granted??
As I predicted in one of my post at another blog of mine, some celebrity's career is doomed. Its quite unusual but speculations are at rise, " In America,SEX TAPES help your career", but in HongKong?? no way.
Some remarked it as 9/11 for HongKong Entertainment Industry. The effect of devastation is so immense that producers and companies are setting mind to ditch all those who were involved in public disclosure of sexual acts and scandal. The irony is most of them are HongKong's popular celebrities.
What happened was, one man's mistake caused an effect of parallel fall down of bricks all the way, compromising other's careers too. I'm talking about Edison Chen, who slept with almost all female celebrities of Hongkong and his photographs and videos of sexual activities got leaked. It got leaked because he took technology as granted. If you want to know about this story, click here to read.

Blu-ray Vs HD DVD : Which way to Go??
Blu-ray and HD DVD, they are the new standard names for the storage media.

After, storage capacity of 650 MB on CDs, standard 4 GB DVD's are hugely popular and have become standard for backing up your digital contents. There are 8 GB Dual Layer DVD's too but It's very hard to find here near my locals. It's America and I couldn't find one at all the big stores like Circuit City, WalMart, Staples etc. I don't know why they are not widely available but sure enough, there could be some compatibility issues. Now, the next generation of storage Media is either Blu-ray or HD DVD.
Blu-Ray medias are backed by Sony Corporation and has been incorporated already on the Playstation 3. Whereas HD DVD's are backed by Toshiba company and these medias are already used on XBOX 360(with that written, MS also has been backing up this). Storage-wise Blu-Ray holds more data of about 25 GB than of HD DVD's 15 GB.

It's obvious, and if somebody asks 'Would you go for Blu-ray or HD DVD'? I would go for Blu-ray , as simple as that, it has got bigger storage. And why am I asking this? because, Blu-ray won't work on HD-DVD players and vice versa.
Final showdown between these two media types has proved that BLU-RAY is the winner. Because, Toshiba officially announced it's not going to endorse or continue to produce any of the HD DVD product. This is the clear sign that HD DVD is not going to be the next generation storage media. It's BLU-RAY.
Therefore if you were thinking which storage media to opt for, think nowhere else, shell out your money on BLU-RAYs. Because, it's the next standard for your storage demands. Mark my words, spend on BLU-RAY's. Because, HD DVD lost the battle and companies are favoring BLU-RAYs only. Everything from Video/Games/Softwares/ etc will be ported on BLU-RAY in coming days.
By the way, do you remember LASER DISC?? what happened to it? CD and DVD killed the future of LASER DISC. Same is going to happen with HD DVD. Because, whoever has invested on HD DVD, it's not that bad either because, it'll sustain for few more months and it's wise not to spend on it but on Blu-rays. This is a consent of a responsible blogger(like me) who never gives out false suggestion.

This weekend on Lake Tahoe and Nevada
These few days, I have been busy(sorry, I couldn't post so frequent) because, I went for long drive with my family. It was fun-filled,thrilled trip to approximately 400 miles away from the place we live.
It took almost 8 hours(including occasional rest and eating on the way) from Santa Cruz to northern California, precisely the Reno City of Nevada. Actually, our destination was Lake Tahoe(which is just 2 hours from RENO,NV) but we stopped by farther to RENO city where we took couple of rooms to spend a night. After a long day drive, later in the evening we were gambling in the nearest Casinos of Reno City. This first day was really tiresome for us, still, we managed to keep ourselves moving and enjoy the moment out there.
Reno city is the beautiful northern city of Nevada and the downtown was fabulous. Lots of beautiful places to drop by. There was everything for everyone. For bachelor men, there were cabaret clubs like WILD ORCHID and for women, there were separate clubs. I came to know that this City's main income comes from Casinos. So, Casino and gambling, this is one of the major source of income for the Nevada state itself. And we didn't miss the chance to taste the gambling. I won almost upto $623 but the greed to win more made me loose on and on .. and I had to resort back to $200. Because, in Gambling, it's said, Quitting is also winning, sometimes. So, I quitted. The zeal was not as high as when I was winning some $600. But whatever, it was after all, an exciting weekend for me.
Another astounding natural disparity that I noticed while driving to Nevada was, like you can see the snow-clad mountains and hills the left side of the road whereas mountains on right were totally dried up and not much fun to see. This was something strange to feel about. Snows were scattered all over the roofs and grounds and people were easy enough to walk only on T shirts and shorts. It was amazing to see the nature as wonderful as that. For someone like me, who never touched snow in his entire life but seen only on TV/Movies, it was like dream of fantasy land comes true.
Later, somewhere near the Lake Tahoe(lake is vast because, it took almost some 5-6 hours to revolve around the lake and never thought that it could be that big, wow), I got myself playing with snow and I enjoyed a lot. The snow was not as cold as I thought, I could feel that. Next morning we had to travel back. So, on the way back to home, we stopped to many designated areas and took a heart full glances all over the panoramic scenarios. Was fun.. lots of people from different states visited the lake Tahoe to feel the momentum. So we did.
Followings are my pictures along with the sceneries shots.
