As soon as I watched Steve Job's keynote on it's slate PC called Apple iPad, all those TV pundits started their silly arguments. Those female gossips compared the name to their tampons. That was the idiotic comment I've ever heard in long time. The thing is not yet out in the market and those so-called Media anchors were giving out ideas as if they've already owned it. That's why I switch the channel whenever there is any kind of debates run by these idiots who knows nothing but run insanely crazy idiotic debate shows. They speak 20% truth and 80% of their remarks are all based on their own imaginations,guessworks and rumors. That's why I urge not to fall for comments of any kind made by these media people.

Despite being an ardent Apple hater, I liked the idea of Apple iPad. Most importantly, the price. It's gonna be available for mere $500. Now, look at those names Apple has set for before. As rumored, it's not i-Slate or some other stupid names spread on the internet. Like i-Phone,i-Pod and it's now i-Pad, they are continuing their branding. That's it. If you think its feminine, you are one of those gossip I hate the most. Just because they affixed 'Pad' after 'i' doesn't mean it's that 'PAD' ladies wear. Mouse Pad, Touch Pad,... we've used 'Pad's before.

I watched Job's keynote, just at the end, he mistook and actually said i-pad as i-Pod. But given his current health issues, I ignored and didn't chuckle out loud.

Now, what is iPad:

- It's bigger version of iPhone/iPod.(I always wanted iPhone to be bigger)
- It's a slate PC ( Go and watch AVATAR, You'll see Slate PCs there)
- It's a portable media player (I always dreamed of owning Archos but considering their pathetic pricing policy to make money out of consumer's pocket, I ditched the idea)
- It's an ebook reader (definitely, the colorful display that I missed on Kindle).
- It's Ultra portable weighing just 1.5 pounds and half-inch thick.
- It's also a gaming device. Can play games.
- Photo viewing was way fun
- Whopping 10 hours battery life at one charge.

And what iPad is lacking:
- It's not multi-tasking. Run one stuff at a time. (Job claimed it's better than netbook.. ahem)
- It doesn't have Camera (Most netbooks have)
- It is not a phone ( I use netbooks to make calls using skype. They might be on iPad too, but still)
- It doesn't have native flash support. (Job was demoing iPad how news can be read and the news site had this Flash video, which iPad couldn't play but placed blunder box when you don't have Flash support in your PC too)
- No extra SD means No extra storage. Just use what they sell. Max is 64 GB. Is it fair??( My netbook has over 160 GB)
- No USB port. (now this is the major drawback of this thing, world is going USB and Apple missed the train.)
- Extremely fragile, drop it and you turn it into crap, boommm $500's gone.

Steve Job, your iPad is great looking portable device but you can't point us how inferior our netbooks are. Your iPad has a lot to take care of before pointing at netbook's problems.

The only two things that make iPad look like iPad is it's touchscreen and battery life. Rest are inferior to Netbook PC. I can do all those stuffs on my netbook way better that what you showed on your keynote presentation and my netbook has well-served it's purpose till date.

All of you Apple Fans, if you are planning to get an iPad, you guys need to seriously check the following video too.


This is what a slate PC should be and coming this year. This is what I call the revolutionary technology, an extra-ordinary addition in the history of computing, a hybrid computer running both linux and windows world together. One can switch to both OS in 1 sec. This is what I'm waiting for.

A while ago, China-based Google's servers were massively attacked by the hackers. The intrusion caused a lot of tension that now it has reached the state level issue. Even more, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's speech on this issue infuriated Chinese Officials temperament. Remarks like 'Information Imperialism' are coming out from Chinese side.

What was in that speech? Part of the speech was
" In an interconnected world, an attack on one nation's networks can be an attack on all. "


This is obvious to me that Chinese hackers attack on Google's servers is the attack on US. The message is conveyed. I just wish this doesn't go any further than that.

It kind of looked like a movie called 'wargame', where one kid accesses a network thinking it's not inter-connected, and launches a cyber-war game just out of fun. Later, it turned out to be connected to security networks and the simulation of attacks taking place in virtual world, and then Nation's generals getting freaked out thinking it's real and almost getting ready to launch real life attacks to other suspected Nation without thinking a bit. That was a movie.

The fire is lit someway similar, and now it's become in-between Nation's issues. With some Chinese hackers attempt to access human right's gmail accounts, Google almost readied to back out and then big mama had to step in.

China think it's disrespectful how the comment was made upon. It further said, they need no Internet lesson from US when US advocated for Net Neutrality. They claimed that they are themselves the victim of cyber-attacks and urged not to make harsh comments before proper consultation which could deteriorate two-nation's relationship.

Whatever was done, that was so wrong. You have no right to break into other peoples house and try to steal things. That's what Chinese hackers did. They should resolve this issue ASAP by stopping such activities instead of cover-up.

When asked, if Google would stop all it's products and services in China, the answer was negative. They wish to remain in China for their other products and services.

Let's hope it doesn't go anything further than this and they settle down things on mutual understanding.

Before things get heated up, we must understand that we're going no where if cyber battle continues.

Baidu will become more dominant in China once Google backs out. But recent developing news is getting more interesting. Baidu is suing US based domain registrar over Iranian Hackers attack on Baidu.com. Now, someone needs to put big powerful glasses. Stop acting blind.

If you've good bandwidth, then you can watch quite Popular TV streams for free online. Better your bandwidth, better would be the stream and overall quality. I don't really watch these channels a lot, but everytime I watched, it was a great experience.


There is one submenu called "webcam" entirely dedicated to LIVE feeds from around the world and this is the one I like the most. I'm not much off a TV buff, but just being able to see things LIVE around the world from one time zone makes you feel distinct and so, it's my fav.

Very Well done movie, Avatar, broke the record high earning of 'Titanic' for 12 years by earning $505.1 million dollar just in 32 days. It also bagged Golden Globe Winner few days ago. Director James Cameron must be the luckiest man to break not only his own record, but the record of 'Dark Knight's $500 million dollar earning in 45 days in 2008.


This movie is definitely for everyone but different group of people are taking it in different ways. Avatar, to some extent, is being politicized here and there. People are afraid of it's fame and popularity. They are oblivious of the fact that more they try to defame or insult, more people flocked into the cinema hall to watch it. It's word of mouth, that made this movie a bit hit. I wouldn't spread a word if it's not a great movie but I made my whole family, anyone I know watch this movie. Needless to say now, I watched it twice and planning to watch it in 3D real soon for the third time. I didn't take it politically but the message was clear, there is no alien. All are friends, you can resonate with aliens and vice versa. There is a message of brotherhood. The people who only saw the defeat of human or certain group, didn't see the same human is depicted as hero in Alien's body.


One more thing, Westerners borrowed the word 'Avatar' from Sanskrit. So, it feels great to see the exchange of words. 'Avatar' is reincarnation of any godly figure into body of sentient being. The way these guys are pronouncing this word is very weird though.



Overall, this movie is a great watch. I'm not gonna leak a word on the story, I urge You go and watch it yourself.



James Cameron, you've always rocked, this time too. Congrats !!!

A 26 years old, Paul Chambers, was apprehended and held in jail for 7 hours as a suspect terrorist after what he twitted in twitter.



For some reason, his flight through Robin Hood Airport(UK) was delayed and out of frustration he made the comment like that to amuse his friends. It proved to be the pricey comment of his life he's ever made for free on twitter.

His iPhone, laptop and home computer have been confiscated and he's banned to enter Robin Hood Airport for life. And, now he is spreading the lesson he learned
"My advice to anyone using social networking sites is to be very careful what you say, we are living in a sensitive world and anything risque you post could be taken in the wrong way.’

He's released on bail though.

FOSS community in Nepal has not been allowed a kiosk in Nepal's own Consumer Electronic Show 'CAN InfoTech Nepal 2010' going to be held soon in this month of January. As cheesy as the name sounds, Computer Association of Nepal has taken out the fair opportunity to participate in IT show like this or I would assume they've gone making more capital profit.

FOSS usually had a small cubicle in this large show where they were focused towards awareness about open source software. This time, the opportunity has been waived. More students would flock in, the dealers would find more scapegoats and realm of Free Open Source world would get hit one more time by big corp.

Sorry, FOSS!!! Time to spend money and create awareness.
