Tianhe-1A, a new supercomputer revealed today at HPC 2010 China, has set a new performance record of 2.507 petaflops, as measured by the LINPACK benchmark, making it the fastest system in China and in the world today(1).

Tianhe-1A epitomizes modern heterogeneous computing by coupling massively parallel GPUs with multi-core CPUs, enabling significant achievements in performance, size and power. The system uses 7,168 NVIDIA® Tesla™ M2050 GPUs and 14,336 CPUs; it would require more than 50,000 CPUs and twice as much floor space to deliver the same performance using CPUs alone.

More importantly, a 2.507 petaflop system built entirely with CPUs would consume more than 12 megawatts. Thanks to the use of GPUs in a heterogeneous computing environment, Tianhe-1A consumes only 4.04 megawatts, making it 3 times more power efficient -- the difference in power consumption is enough to provide electricity to over 5000 homes for a year.

Tianhe-1A was designed by the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in China. The system is housed at National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin and is already fully operational.

"The performance and efficiency of Tianhe-1A was simply not possible without GPUs," said Guangming Liu, chief of National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin. "The scientific research that is now possible with a system of this scale is almost without limits; we could not be more pleased with the results."

The Tianhe-1A supercomputer will be operated as an open access system to use for large scale scientific computations.

"GPUs are redefining high performance computing," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of NVIDIA. "With the Tianhe-1A, GPUs now power two of the top three fastest computers in the world today. These GPU supercomputers are essential tools for scientists looking to turbocharge their rate of discovery."

NVIDIA Tesla GPUs, based on the CUDA™ parallel computing architecture, are designed specifically for high performance computing (HPC) environments and deliver transformative performance increases across a wide range of HPC fields, including drug discovery, hurricane and tsunami modeling, cancer research, car design, even studying the formation of galaxies.

Few years ago, I heard news about buying land on the moon. I simply ignored, thought it as some sort of mockery. People were bidding for that. Since past few days, I'm reading news about plans to set up lunar base on the moon. Actually, NASA has been planning this for long and working day and night for it.  They plan to surpass the Apollo missions by establishing a base on the moon that could lead to a permanent human presence on the lunar surface. I was amused to imagine that buying plots on moon's surface is not despicable at all when moon base becomes reality.


Recent developing news suggest that there is at least 1 billion gallon of water on moon's surface discovered just from last year's moon bombing LCROSS experiment. This is just from one crater. What does it mean for average guy like me? It means spacecraft wouldn't have to bring water from Earth. It'll cut the expenses and load on spacecrafts. If astronauts land near ice deposits,and say they set up a base, they could use the ice for their survival. Water which is essential for human survival could be broken down into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen could be used for fueling and oxygen for breathing. Thereafter, inter-planetary mission would take a step ahead. It's really important for future space exploration.

Also,another News surfaced yesterday suggest that NASA is establishing a Planetary Defense Coordination Office to lead national and international efforts in protecting Earth against impacts by asteroids and comets. This means we're entering the era of space wars. I'm not talking about age-old Atari space war game. I could imagine what does this mean. We, human, would be able to deflect any asteroid hazards. They've not stated how they are going to do this but definitely, this is something I've long been waiting for. I was always thinking what would it be like to destroy an asteroids. At least, they stepped forward and formulating plans for this preventive measures against cosmic hazards.

I'm not sure if this is just words or going to be a reality. If it becomes reality, I may not be living that longer to see all this, but I'm happy for our kind, human. One day, united we shall explore the depth of dark space.

Today, something happened in the sky of New York City, it was orb like glowing objects dancing in the sky or may be some sort of their own cosmic stunt for about an hour and whoever witnessed it, they were speechless. These mysterious unknown objects often termed as UFOs needlessly baffled everyone. Scientists don't readily dive into this kind of phenomenons and government is always at lookout to cover up incidents like this. What to say about our puppet show media. They were biased,they are always and will be always. 95% of their blabbering are all bullshits and whoever listen to those are either numbnuts or on their way to getting brainwashed. The only group that acknowledges this fact are people like you and me.


Okay lets begin the analysis on this event. One group stayed firm it's a balloon. It was media and they reported first as UFO sightings. Moment later, something happened inside their cubicles. They changed their casting and they are telling people now it's a balloon. If you are one of those brainwashed by these medias, it's your right to believe whatever they say. Something as small as helium filled balloon flying over 5,000 or 50,000 feet above can't be seen with human eyes. You'll need powerful binoculars or telescope to observe that. These height estimates were made by professionals among us anyway.

And some of the guys, said they're para-gliders in the sky. Para-gliders don't stay put in the sky and they don't glow like a light bulb. I pity on their thinking ability who can't differentiate and figure out even the simple law of physics.

All people on the ground were panicked and to some extent scared speculating if it is some sort of attack after they saw/heard fighter jets fly at blazing speed. Those jets were the proof enough to say those objects were uninvited mysterious one. I don't believe in conspiracy theory and if some of you thinking it's government's some sort of experiment, then enjoy your own realm.

I'm  not here to back up or debunk UFO phenomenon unnecessarily. My  logic is simple. Acceptance. Common people, we're living on very small planet. We've huge infinite ocean of galaxies and stars. Some of the morons think we're are the only one living in this entire universe. How could that be possible? There are definitely other life forms in different ways, more advanced that us or more ancient than us. But definitely there are living forms around the stars. And, we take pride on our just 100 years of technology advancements. Common, it's just 100 years. We're are so immature and so primitive. We can't even destroy the tiniest asteroids with missiles heading towards the Earth. That's how pathetic we are. May be we're the only race who sheds blood of it's own kind. Or may be one day like US secretary of state Hillary Clinton once said "whether we will have to join together as human beings to stave off attacks from aliens in outer space, and then we’ll have to put aside our really petty differences—differences in our own country and differences among people around the world—to stand up for our common humanity..." , we might stand up as one. Back to reality, we are so busy in our own universe that we don't even care what's going on around. And when we see something like that we panic with disbelief.

I don't believe 2012 shit and we human are not in that state to predict cosmic futures. I'm not trying to insult the old prophets or scripts but the real deal is the middlemen who misinterpreted things for their commercial benefits. Just because someone forgot to make calendar for another season doesn't mean it's the end of the world. I'm writing this because I read someones twit about this. They are proclaiming this is the beginning of the end. They are connecting these issues with 2012 end of the world crap. These are the same group of people who believed End of the world back in 80's, then in the millennium and now they are into their next venture. Believe me, they'll never stop and these people are insanely sick people wanting to see the demise of human kind, create fear and tensions.

But,I strongly believe something is definitely happening. It's happening all around the world and we really don't know what's happening. So many people have recorded the exact looking shiny orbs everywhere else too. Similar incidents are happening around the Sun too. Orbs as big as Earth is coming through way in and out the surface of sun like we do in our subways. It's all in NASA's EUVI image database. I'm not trying to conflict the facts and beliefs and don't want to make random display of my thoughts based on assumptions. I can only say, something is definitely happening. Don't know if it's for good or bad.

Folks, my conclusion is those objects were real.

Today on Monday morning in New York , Microsoft unveiled a new mobile platform Windows Phone 7 (WP7). Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said nine different mobile phones will come equipped with Windows Phone 7 this coming November,2010. Some of them are HTC,LG,Samsung etc. 60 mobile operators around world will carry Windows phone 7 on their devices. So guys you've choices and you can go for the service of your choice.


During the press conference, Ballmer kept emphasizing on it's usability. They know what they are doing and where they are heading towards. There are currently mighty iPhone and colossal Android reigning the market to which Microsoft threw something out of it's basket called Windows Phone 7. Phones interface might be little quirky for those used to with conventional UI of the phones. But once they kept showcasing the phone, I started to like it. It's all in front of your eye and don't need to shift up that sliding down glasses to use your phone. Just touch, scroll, slide and tap. Taking photos/videos with the camera was surprisingly fast. Private Spaceship makes first trip to the space. Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo was carried aloft by its mothership to an altitude of 45,000 feet and released over the Mojave Desert,California. After the separation, SpaceShipTwo, manned by two pilots, flew freely for 11 minutes before landing at an airport runway followed by the mothership.


It's reported that the entire session lasted only 25 minutes. The six-passenger SpaceShipTwo is undergoing rigorous testing before it can carry tourists to space. In the latest test, SpaceShipTwo did not fire its rocket engine to climb to space.

SpaceShipTwo will make a series of additional glide flights before rocketing to space. And, it's said that anyone paying for space ticket which cost $200,000 would have the opportunity to travel in the space.  

First ever true space flight at private level is becoming a reality in coming months.

Today, there was a strange encounter with a file inside a folder or to be precise say a .FLV file downloaded off Youtube refused to obey any normal file system command requested. I have Windows 7 Professional 32 bit , it's kind of new to me and there are lot of things yet to be discovered.


Once in a while, I organize my downloads and then I back it up. While doing so, this one .FLV file took forever to respond.  The problems I faced were:

1. It wouldn't move to other folder or location at all, Windows Explorer just takes forever and keeps showing with 'discovering/calculating' message
2. Tried to rename the file, and the explorer window didn't respond. When I fired further clicks, I saw 'Not responding' at the window's title bar. 
3. Then I tried to delete it, and it wouldn't delete. Pretty adamant.
4. I tried to check the properties of the file and my Windows 7 acted like nothing happened. I did that several times and saw no effect at all. It didn't show me any window or any message box. That was strange. 
5. Now, I really needed to get this thing off my system. I did malware checks. I found out it's clean. I rebooted in safe mode(F8 key during bootup) and tried to delete it with no luck. I saw it has lock icon on it. After seeing, lock icon I thought some encryption is preventing me to do things.
6. Back to normal mode, I tried to disable the Bitlocker encryption of Windows 7 but found out and remembered, encryption was already disabled. 
7. I installed Unlocker for Windows 7, hoping that would definitely delete the culprit. But even my favorite tool in XP failed in Windows 7.
8. I had this kind of problem in Windows XP when filename or folder name is awkwardly long and saved in last sub folder of  many folders hierarchy.( eg: c:\folder1\folder2\folder3\folder4\folder5\long file name) In those cases, I simply start to delete from last subfolder and it works. I checked if it's the same issue in Windows 7 and it was not.
9. I tried to run that FLV file and out of shock it played. Hmmm... 

So, there was nothing wrong with the file. It's just something not letting me do file actions under Windows 7 environment. I searched microsoft and found they've some ownership settings running on file system for security. I didn't use Vista much but found out that  it is a known feature on Vista too. File ownership determines the permission level granted to certain users so that nobody could make unauthorized changes to the file / folder besides granted user. I was thinking Administrator could do anything. But I was wrong. Or may be bug where Administrator is restricted to perform system maintenance or may be lack of knowledge. I think, the FLV file must have different permission level from where it was generated first and it didn't just match with Windows 7's permission settings, so Windows 7 simple refused it's existence.

More searches, I found there was this little registry hack which will let you 'Take Ownership' of the file manually. I clicked, downloaded and run the registry hack. There was 'Take Ownership' shortcut menu added to my context menu. I right clicked on that FLV file, clicked 'Take Ownership' and voila. I could move the file , rename it or even delete it. The whole drama was because of this mismatched file permission settings.
 

Afterward, I tried to find if there is automatic Ownership of all files and folders under Administrators right in Windows 7 and I couldn't find a single solution for that. May be Windows 7 is not meant to be that way.

NOTE: This should work for all undeletable files and folders in Windows 7, can't delete file or folder in windows 7, can't remove file or folder in windows 7 , kind of things.

Seeing is believing. Millions of people can't be wrong. This Cumbria UFO Video clip accidentally taken by Robert Atkins during his dog walk out is in media and recent. Videos posted were made no sense, just played in the normal speed on Youtube and didn't quite see anything except few nan0-second dots appearing on the screen. Quite frankly, it appeared as a glitch on his camera's lens. I still couldn't figure out and as a result I thought to dissect the video frame by frame in playable format. I used VLC player to play it in 0.06 secs slow motion mode and while doing so, I recorded the playback using other tool.


This UFO was traversing in an unimaginable speed. It was doing that in zigzag pattern. While doing so our technology based camera virtually captured it as three UFOs on the screen. Further analyzing, It appeared to be only one UFO at blazing speed, faster than light and zooming in a zigzag course. Those two dimmed objects initially appeared and captured somewhere on the screen were actually the reflection of the UFO traversing along a zigzag path. Our camera couldn't capture such a high speed action rather showed as some blinks of black dots.

Conclusion: We're still petty and insignificant in terms of the technology they're using if it's real. What makes them travel fast? Our physics can't have solid answer yet except some concepts. With that speed, they' could round the planet in a matter of few minutes.
