500 GB Hitachi harddrive for Notebooks

Jan 4, 2008 9 comments
Japanese company Hitachi announced notebook series of hard drives with 500 GB capacity. Few weeks ago, i wrote about first notebook with HD RW drive for the first time ever. This time, i'm writing about Notebook series with 500GB massive storage first time ever.

The half terabyte Travelstar 5K500 is a 5400 rpm with 3 GB/s SATA interface. And, it will be available in the market worldwide in February. Previously, larger capacities were made available using multiple hard drives in RAID arrays. But this is 500 GB in single 2.5 inch drive for the first time targeted towards Notebook.

waliz, what I own now,I'm proud of it. and what you own now, you are proud of it. But, it's interesting to know that such huge drives for laptop are coming on our way.. very soon. how do you feel?? I feel good

hahaha, Merdurian, indeed 500 GB is huge for now, but not for later on. Some desktops have 750 GB harddrives for personal use, mostly on RAID configuration. But 500 GB for small 2.5 inch size drive is incredible. It's massive. and yeah, i would love to store whatever i like if i own one.

people are in dilemma, which one to choose, if we really have to choose HD or Blu-ray.. .. because, overtime only one of them would exist or may be i'm wrong .. but whoever wins, it's kindda lets see and watch.. thing for the time being.. i think HD will win since, Toshiba already released HD-DVD RW and, lots of people are thinking to shift that way.. but i still urge, it's just wait and watch condition for the time being..

Hi Speed bro, we don't need to own anything to get ourselves known with latest trend and technology. And, i bet one day, you'll be playing with notebooks.. :)
